We’re thrilled to welcome our NICU and ICN graduates and their families back for our annual celebration! 💛

Each year, this special gathering gives us the opportunity to celebrate the remarkable milestones, growth, and resilience of the incredible little ones who have touched our hearts.

It’s also a meaningful chance for families to reconnect with the multidisciplinary teams who cared for them, reunite with familiar faces, and celebrate alongside a community connected by the neonatal journey.

Our care doesn’t end at discharge. This cherished tradition is a reminder of the lasting relationships, ongoing support, and extraordinary impact of neonatal care—from the earliest days in the hospital to every milestone that follows.

We can’t wait to celebrate our amazing NICU and ICN community together. We hope to see you there! ✨

⚾ For 14-year-old Tyler Briend, his first San Francisco Giants game came with a moment few baseball fans ever experience: taking the field at Oracle Park.

Tyler, who received a heart transplant at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford in 2024, was honored as the San Francisco Giants’ Play Ball Kid during Donate Life Day. He wore No. 24—a nod to the year he received his new heart. ❤️

After a childhood filled with complex heart care, surgeries and hospital stays, Tyler’s day at the ballpark was about more than baseball. It was a celebration of organ donation, the generosity of donors and their families, and the milestones a new heart can make possible.

Now, Yujin is getting ready to start his freshman year at Stanford University, where he'll also be playing soccer. We highlighted Yujin's recovery journey last year on our blog:

Yujin's knee injury didn't sideline him for long, thanks to his sports medicine care team and his incredible work ethic.

S’mores, kayaking, ropes courses, archery, and the freedom of time in the woods, away from all the stresses of everyday life. These sleepaway camp staples might be inaccessible to kids navigating pediatric cancer, were it not for Camp Okizu. At camp, a team of expert volunteers helps kids who are still receiving cancer treatment and childhood cancer survivors to stay safe and healthy. Stanford's Karen Chao, MD, is one of those volunteers. This summer, the pediatric oncologist spent her first summer as the camp’s medical director after two years of volunteering in other roles.
