This patient came to us after a whiplash injury - dealing with constant neck tension, headaches, and that lingering “off” feeling that just wouldn’t go away.

But here’s what most people don’t realize:
Whiplash very commonly creates a very specific pattern of fascial distortion.
And unless your provider knows how to assess for it, it’s almost always missed.

Stretching, massage, chiropractic adjustments - they may help temporarily, but they rarely resolve the root problem. That’s why so many people struggle for months (or even years) after a car accident, without real relief.

In this case, once we addressed the underlying fascial distortion patterns from the whiplash, her symptoms improved, quickly.

If you’ve had a car accident and still feel “off,” even if imaging says you’re fine… this video is for you.

We specialize in identifying and treating fascial dysfunction - especially those overlooked by conventional care.

Why Most Posture Exercises Don’t Work

Let’s break it down:

⚠️ Problem #1: They don’t build endurance

Most posture exercises isolate postural muscles and perform reps that shorten and lengthen these muscles. Postural muscles need to be trained to hold a relative position and allow for dynamic movement when needed. Reps should be utilized as a way to add accessory movement to postural isometrics(holds), not as a way to isolate postural muscles by themselves.

Repetitions and holds have different relative training effects. That’s why someone who can squat 500 lbs. might not be able to perform a task like a bodyweight squat hold as easily as a yogi who may have significantly less relative strength.

⚠️ Problem #2: They don’t train neural grooving

Posture isn’t just physical, it’s neurological.
To improve it, your body needs to learn how to fire the right tissues together, at the right time.

This is what we call neural grooving, and it does two things:

✅ It makes improving posture easier by improving nervous system efficiency
✅ It helps you build a reliable reference point to return to when posture fades

⚠️ Problem #3: They ignore fascial dysfunction

If holding correct posture feels uncomfortable, awkward, or unstable - it’s likely due to fascial restriction.

Until you treat the fascial dysfunction, you likely will find it difficult to fire the proper muscles to build muscle endurance and you will also find it difficult to get yourself into the proper positions to develop the ideal neural grooving.

Solution:

Stop training posture the wrong way.

✅ Build muscle endurance
✅ Groove the right patterns
✅ If you find you need help with fascial restrictions, schedule a visit.

👎Why Most Ankle Sprain Treatments Suck👎

⚠️ Problem 1: The R.I.C.E. Protocol

Most plans still default to R.I.C.E. - Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation, but that’s outdated.

A 2012 systematic review in the Journal of Athletic Training found insufficient evidence to support R.I.C.E. as effective for acute ankle sprains. (van den Bekerom et al., 2012). Some studies even show it may slow healing. (Racinais et al., 2024)

⚠️ Problem 2: Fascia & Periosteal Layers Are Ignored

Most care overlooks the periosteal layer - where fascia, ligaments, and tendons attach to bone. This is the most common structural dysfunction we see, and few ever address it. If those sites aren’t treated properly, real recovery is unlikely.

⚠️ Problem 3: 6–8 Weeks is Treated as “Normal”

Grade I–II sprains are often thought to need 6–8 weeks. But in many cases, there’s actually nothing to heal. Inflammation and pain are often a response to fascial dysfunction - not tissue damage. You don’t have to just “let it heal”, you can treat it immediately. With proper treatment, pain resolves and function returns fast. Many of our patients fully recover in just 2–4 visits.

⚠️ Problem 4: Weak Muscles Are Misdiagnosed

When a patient tests weak in a movement, it’s usually labeled “muscle weakness.” But often, it’s neural inhibition - not actual weakness. (D**g et al., 2024) Fix the dysfunction, and the muscle fires again.

⚠️ Problem 5: Instability Isn’t from Stretched Ligaments

Recurrent sprains are often blamed on stretched ligaments. In reality, AMI—arthrogenic muscle inhibition, is the cause. (Palmieri-Smith & Hopkins, 2007) When stabilizing muscles don’t fire properly, the ankle stays unstable. Treat the root issue, restore neuromuscular function, and the ankle becomes stronger and more resilient.

✅ At AXIOS, we treat the actual source of dysfunction.

5 Things You Didn’t Know About Fascia:

Fascia isn’t just “tissue between muscles.” It’s an intelligent, dynamic system that plays a central role in pain, movement, and even your emotions - and yet, some people have never even heard of it.

Here are 5 little-known facts that might change how you view your body:

1️⃣ It’s your largest sensory organ.
Fascia has more sensory nerve endings than your muscles or skin. That chronic pain you’ve been told is “just aging”? It might actually be coming from stuck or inflamed fascia.

2️⃣ It stores emotional stress.
Research shows fascial tissue becomes stiffer in people with depression or trauma. That “tension you carry” in your neck or low back? It’s not just metaphor, it’s biological.

3️⃣ It contracts and remodels- just like muscle.
Fascia isn’t passive. It adapts to how you move (or don’t move), creating patterns that either support or limit you.

4️⃣ It affects balance and body awareness.
Inside fascia are mechanoreceptors that help your brain know where you are in space. Restrictions here can disrupt coordination and stability, even when muscles seem fine.

5️⃣ It supports circulation and immune flow.
Fascia helps move lymph and fluid throughout the body. When it’s restricted, your ability to clear inflammation, toxins, and waste slows down too.

These aren’t just facts, they’re keys to truly understanding structural dysfunction and pain.

📍 At AXIOS, we specialize in treating fascia hands-on, giving your body the input it actually needs to reset.

TMJ dysfunction can be one of the most frustrating conditions to deal with.
Conventional treatment options like night guards, Botox, muscle relaxers, NSAIDs, or even chiropractic and intraoral soft tissue work can help some people… but for many, the results are temporary or nonexistent.

When those fail, patients are often forced to just “live with it.”

But here’s the thing:
When you look at TMJ dysfunction through a fascial lens, everything changes.

We’ve seen patients who struggled for years find rapid relief - often within just a few visits, when the fascia is properly assessed and treated.

“That’s just part of getting older.”

You’ve heard it. Maybe you’ve even said it.

But here’s the truth: Age is not your problem. Misdiagnosis is.

Most people over the age of 40 with pain are told it’s from their osteoarthritis, wear-and-tear, or “getting old.” But after seeing dozens of patients diagnosed with osteparrthitis fully recover after treatment - while imaging remained unchanged, it became aparent that their osteoarthritis was not CAUSING their pain.

The real culprit - fascial dysfunction, and it’s highly treatable.

If your joint still moves, there’s massive potential for improvement.

Let’s fix what’s really going on and get you back to doing what you love.

If you’ve been getting adjusted, massaged, stretched, or doing PT - and you’re STILL in pain, they likely missed the real problem.

👉 The issue isn’t your “tight muscles.”
👉 It’s not your “weak glutes.”
👉 And it’s likely not your age - even if you have joint degeneration or herniated discs

✅ It’s the system that controls how you move and how you feel. The system that senses what we call “musculoskeletal pain.” It’s FASCIA! And what you are likely experiencing is fascial dysfunction.
✅ And almost no one is diagnosing it.

Bay Area athletes, active adults, and professionals trust AXIOS because we fix what other treatments miss. From ankle sprains to herniated disc complications to failed orthopedic surgery pain.

✅ This is not “fascial release.”
✅ We diagnose specific types of fascial dysfunction and use the absolute best tools to treat your specific condition.
✅ Our patients move and feel 10–20 years younger and stay that way - even after years of frustration.

👉 If you’re ready to stop wasting time on treatments that don’t last → this is where your results begin.
