Brushing and flossing every day is important—but sometimes it’s not the whole story.

In this case, our patient had excellent oral hygiene but was still experiencing persistent gum inflammation and bleeding. The cause? Mouth breathing during sleep.

Mouth breathing can dry out the gums, leading to irritation, inflammation, and bleeding that won’t improve through brushing and flossing alone.

Watch as we break down this interesting case and explain why finding the root cause is key to achieving long-term oral health.

Did you know your nose can tell you if you’re breathing properly? 👃

If your nostrils collapse when you take a deep breath in, it may be a sign you’re not getting enough airflow through your nose during normal breathing.

That’s why some patients benefit from intake nose strips - helping support better airflow, easier breathing, and even improved sleep 😴✨

Try this now!

Book a consultation if you have questions about airway health or nasal breathing.

“patient: they definitely think I don’t floss 💀”
“hygienist: I need groceries”

Friendly reminder: at Ridgeland, we’re never judging. We promise we’re thinking about lunch, not your flossing habits 😂

Many people track steps, workouts, even heart rate… but never actually look at how well they’re sleeping.

Devices like an Oura Ring or Apple Watch can sometimes show signs of disrupted sleep, but they don’t always tell the full story.

What we look for in dentistry can sometimes point to sleep disturbances that affect your overall rest, energy, and health, even without obvious snoring or apnea.

In some cases, a sleep study can help uncover what’s really going on at night.

Book a consultation if you’ve been feeling tired despite a full night’s rest 🦷✨

POV: he said “I’ll just wait here” and suddenly it’s his designated reset moment 😌
No long wait, just a quick appointment… but he’s fully settled into waiting room mode anyway 😂

TMJ pain isn’t always just “jaw pain.” 🦷

Constant muscle tension from clenching and grinding can lead to:
• headaches
• temple pain
• jaw soreness
• neck tension
• even pain radiating into the upper back

Botox works by relaxing overactive muscles that are constantly contracting - helping reduce tension and relieve discomfort.

Dr. Alyssa explains how this treatment can help patients finally get out of chronic facial pain ✨

Book a consultation with us to learn if Botox may be right for you.
