Since the August 2020 merger of Learning Services and ReMed our teams have worked hard to bring our organizations together, implementing best practices and making our organization stronger and smarter. For 35 years, our programs have been the recognized expert for treating highly complex, post-acute neurorehabilitation and neurobehavioral cases. These years of experience have taught us that collaboration, communication and partnering are pivotal to success.

An inspiring victory on the ice! 🏒

We were delighted to see a client from our Learning Services program and Kelly Parrish, Day Treatment Coordinator from our Creedmoor, North Carolina location, attend a recent recreational therapy outing to cheer on the Carolina Hurricanes against the Winnipeg Jets.

Community outings are a cornerstone of our rehabilitation approach—fostering confidence, building routine, and encouraging meaningful social connections. To cap off an already memorable evening, the Canes delivered a dominant 7-0 shutout, sending everyone home in high spirits!

The ReMed clients in East Brunswick, New Jersey took therapy outdoors this week with a walk around the lake. Outings like this go far beyond a change of scenery—they provide real-world practice for balance, functional endurance, and community reintegration, all while sharing laughs and catching some turtles sunbathing along the water’s edge.

Growing together! 🌿

ReMed in East Brunswick, New Jersey recently teamed up with
Rutgers University Horticulture and Brain Initiative program for a hands-on afternoon of planting. Participants partnered in groups to pot small plants in tiny cups, blending creativity, connection, and growth.

Celebrating incredible progress! ☀️

Following a work-related injury on August 25, 2024, that resulted in T11–T12 incomplete paraplegia, Maritza Mendoza began her rehabilitation journey with Collage Home and Community Southern California on August 25, 2025. After completing her initial program on December 31, 2025, she was admitted to Shirley Ryan Ability Lab on January 6, 2026, for intensive inpatient rehabilitation. She returned home and rejoined Collage on April 14, 2026, to focus on community reintegration.

Guided and encouraged by her dedicated care team—Rachel Wilhide, PT; Ben Slayback, RT; and social worker Myrna Vargas Evert, Maritza made tremendous progress toward active community living. On September 11, 2026, she commemorated her program completion with a powerful milestone: ambulating at Royal Palm Beach in San Pedro, California.

Reflecting on her milestone, Maritza shared, “I am extremely grateful for their support and encouragement throughout my journey. I am very thankful for their help and dedication. I would not be able to do all things that I have done without them. They believed in me when I didn’t even believe in myself. I am forever thankful.”

Our Horticulture Group at the ReMed Activity Center in Paoli, Pennsylvania, recently enjoyed a session focused on fine motor skills and sensory engagement while caring for our houseplants. Seeing our group members nurture these plants and share such genuine smiles is exactly what our mission is all about.

The ReMed Pittsburgh team was proud to support the 5th annual Westmoreland County Concussion Awareness Group’s golf outing last week!

It was a fantastic day on the course for an incredibly important cause, bringing awareness and support to concussion education and recovery. We love getting out into our community and being part of events that make such a meaningful impact! 💙🤝
