As we prepare to celebrate 250 years of independence on July 4, it’s time to recognize two of our residents who fought for America’s freedom. 🇺🇸
Earlier this month, Air Force veteran Dick Satiroff and Bob Irwin, an Army veteran, were treated by Dream Flights to a moment they’ll never forget. What a privilege to watch these two take to the skies in a vintage 1940 Stearman biplane that’s affectionately known as “Grandpa’s Plane.” 🛩️
Witnessing their reactions to flying in an open cockpit over the Nebraska prairies was priceless. “How wonderful it was!” exclaimed Mr. Satiroff after exiting the plane. Bob and Dick’s families were there to cheer them on as well as a group of our residents. Miss USA, who’s a Lincoln native, was even in attendance to celebrate our heroes! 👑
What made this day even more special was seeing our company’s co-founder, Jack Vetter, who is also an Army vet, take his turn in the sky after years of supporting the Dream Flights cause. Jack’s hope is that veterans for years to come will have this same opportunity.
Melanie Smith has been a Dream Flights pilot for eight years and talked about the impact the Vetter Foundation has had on their organization.
