First days can feel exciting, overwhelming, and a little stressful. That’s okay.

Prepare what you can, talk about how you’re feeling, and take the day one step at a time. You don’t have to have everything figured out on Day 1.

A new school year is a fresh start. You’ve got this!

Sara Boyadjis, LPC, ACS, PMH-C, Associate Vice President of Clinical Outcomes and Evaluation at Care Plus NJ, was recently featured on NJ 101.5 to discuss the growing number of teens and young adults turning to AI for behavioral health support.

While the anonymity of AI can make it easier to ask difficult or embarrassing questions, Sara explained that these tools also have important limitations. AI can reaffirm what someone is already thinking or feeling rather than recognize and challenge unhealthy patterns in the way a trained mental health professional can.

As AI becomes a more common source of mental health information and support, understanding those limitations and knowing when to reach out for professional help is increasingly important. Care Plus NJ remains focused on making sure individuals and families have access to trusted, professional support as these conversations continue to evolve.

On National Grief Awareness Day, we recognize that grief looks different for everyone. There is no right timeline and no single way to move through loss.

Whether you are grieving a loved one, a relationship, a major life change, or another meaningful loss, support is available. Be gentle with yourself and know that you do not have to navigate grief alone.

Care Plus NJ is here to provide compassionate behavioral health support when you need it.

For children who experience trauma, getting the right support at the right time can change what comes next.

Recently, Care Plus NJ Senior Director of Trauma Services Jen Velten joined representatives from the National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN) for a meeting with Congressman Frank Pallone’s office to discuss the importance of federally funded trauma services and the impact they have in communities across New Jersey.

Since October 2025, Care Plus NJ has screened more than 1,000 young people for trauma, helping identify children who may benefit from additional support and connect them with appropriate care.

In our latest blog, Jen shares more about the work happening through Care Plus NJ’s Center for Trauma Services and why continued federal investment is critical to ensuring children and families can access the support they need.

ICYMI: What happens after behavioral health policy becomes law?

In their latest blog, Care Plus NJ President & CEO Brigitte Johnson, Esq. and Ann Marie Zihal, SVP of CCBHC Strategies & Innovation, reflect on their recent Hill Day meetings in Washington, D.C. and why the voices of community providers are critical to shaping effective behavioral health policy.

Drawing on Care Plus NJ’s experience delivering services across New Jersey, they explore why successful policy depends not only on investment, but on how effectively those resources reach providers and the individuals and families who rely on them.
