Perimenopause deserves a little more attention.

There’s still so much that women aren’t told about this stage of life, from the science behind hormonal fluctuations to the many ways perimenopause can show up in the body and mind.

So, in the spirit of starting more conversations, I am joining the Dear Perimenopause conversation.

Because the more we talk about it, the more women can recognize what’s happening, ask better questions, and feel less alone in the process.

I was inspired by the wonderful posts from on Instagram. I loved seeing this initiative out in the world and wanted to join in because perimenopause is an incredibly important topic, and one that deserves so much more recognition and awareness.

So, Dear Perimenopause… 💌

After decades of working with women, I keep seeing the same pattern. We focus on one area of health and neglect the rest. And real, lasting wellness does not work that way.

Here is what I believe every woman needs to truly thrive:

Physical health — nutrition, movement, sleep, hormone health, and cardiovascular and metabolic care. These are not optional. They are the foundation.

Mental health — the ability to manage stress, set boundaries, practice self-care, and connect with a community of women who truly get it. We are wired for connection, and that is not a luxury. It is medicine.

Financial health — because without it, everything else becomes harder. Your ability to access quality food, proper healthcare, and the tools you need to take care of yourself is directly tied to your financial wellbeing.

My goal is to reach over 100,000 women in the next 15 years and give them the tools to build strength and resilience in all three areas.

Because quality of life matters just as much as length of life.

Your brain is part of the menopause conversation.

For decades, women were told hormone therapy and memory don't mix. New research is rewriting that story — and timing matters as much as the science itself.

A November 2025 FDA/HHS decision removed longstanding black-box warnings on hormone therapy for cardiovascular disease, breast cancer, and probable dementia. Then this August, a landmark autopsy study published in Neurology found 35% fewer Alzheimer's-related brain changes — and 39% lower odds of a lifetime dementia diagnosis — in women who'd used estrogen-only hormone therapy.

But here's the part that matters most: timing may be everything. Research presented at the 2025 American Neurological Association meeting found starting hormone therapy within 5 years of menopause was linked to a 32% lower Alzheimer's risk — while starting after 65 was linked to a 38% higher risk.

This isn't a blanket yes or no. It's a reason to have a real, personalized conversation with a menopause-informed provider about your timeline, your risk factors, and what's right for you.

You will spend over a third of your life in menopause. Are you treating it that way?

So many women come in thinking they just need a hormone prescription and they are done. But this transition touches everything — your heart health, your metabolism, your risk for diabetes and stroke, your sleep, your bones, your muscle mass.

A single appointment is not enough. This is a journey, and you deserve a plan that actually reflects that.

If you have not had a period in over 12 months and you notice any bleeding, spotting, or even light staining — please do not brush it off.

Post-menopausal bleeding is one of the most common ways uterine and ovarian cancers show up. It is not always cancer, but it always needs to be evaluated.

And if you are on HRT — bleeding in the first six months or after a dose change is actually very common and usually temporary. But you still need to have that conversation with your provider to make sure everything is ruled out.

Any bleeding after menopause deserves attention. Do not wait.

Testosterone isn't just a "male hormone" conversation.

It plays a real role in women's health too.

If you've been dealing with low libido or low energy during menopause and been told it's "just aging," it might be time for a deeper look at your hormone levels.

Hormone therapy is not the only conversation we have in my practice.

I believe in looking at the full picture — conventional medicine and functional medicine together — because every woman is different and every woman deserves to know all of her options.

When it comes to perimenopause and menopause, that means we talk about everything. Supplements that may support better sleep, reduce hot flashes, and ease night sweats. Dietary changes that can make a real difference in how you feel day to day. And yes, hormone replacement therapy when it is the right fit.

I will always be honest with you about what the data shows and where the evidence is limited. But I would rather have that transparent conversation with you and let you decide what feels right for your body than hand you a one-size-fits-all treatment plan and send you on your way.

You get to choose what you want to try. My job is to make sure you know what your choices are.

If you are in the early stages of perimenopause and wondering where to start, come in and let's talk through all of it together.

If you have been struggling with night sweats, hot flashes, or just restless sleep during perimenopause or menopause — I want you to know about Piper & Mint.

Their cooling pajamas and pillowcases were genuinely designed with women in mind, and the difference good sleepwear can make during this transition is something I talk about with my patients all the time. Sleep is everything when it comes to your hormonal health, and anything we can do to protect it matters.

Right now they are running their Until September Event — up to 40% off select in-stock styles through August 28th. And because you are my community, my affiliate code stacks on top of that discount so you get an even better deal.

This is one of the most important things I want every woman to hear.

Too many women are walking out of their doctor's office with an antidepressant prescription when the real root cause of what they are feeling is hormonal. Anxiety, depression, mood swings, inability to sleep — these are not always psychiatric diagnoses. For many women, they are symptoms of hormone deficiency.

Progesterone is what I call nature's Xanax. It keeps you calm, it supports sleep, and it stabilizes your mood in a way that no antidepressant can if hormones are the underlying issue. Estrogen plays an equally important role in cognitive function and emotional regulation.

When we replace these hormones properly, the transformation in how women feel is significant.

You deserve a provider who investigates the root cause before reaching for a prescription pad.
