I’ve been a little stretched thin lately.

Work. Kids. Home. Life. All the things.

And somewhere in the middle of taking care of everyone and everything else, I realized I had quietly stopped doing a very good job of taking care of me.

Not in some dramatic way.

Just little things.

Skipping workouts.
Not planning meals.
Putting off rest.
Saying “I’ll get back to it next week.”

And eventually, enough little things add up.

So I’m working on making myself a priority again.

Not because everything else suddenly matters less, but because I matter too.

Today that looked like getting back out on the golf course, moving my body, getting some sunshine, and doing something I enjoy.

I don’t need to overhaul my whole life overnight.

I just need to start showing up for myself again. ❤️

Wild Friday night over here. 😂

Kids are occupied, pajamas are on, and apparently I’ve reached the stage of life where sitting on the couch working on a crochet project sounds like an excellent Friday night.

And you know what?

10/10. No notes. 😂🧶

Anybody else’s definition of a “wild Friday night” changed dramatically over the years?

Vacation body. ❤️

I’m about 12 pounds heavier than I was a few months ago.

I’ve had weeks where my routine disappeared.
Weeks without consistent workouts.
Weeks where my nutrition wasn’t where I wanted it to be.

And if I’m being completely transparent, I don’t love my body right now.

There are pictures I don’t love. Clothes that fit differently. Parts of myself I’m tempted to hide.

But here’s something I’m working on:

I don’t have to love the way my body looks every single day to appreciate the hell out of what it does for me.

This body carries my kids.

It works long days.

It swims and walks and plays and travels.

It has gotten me through some really hard things.

And today, it put on a swimsuit and went on vacation instead of waiting until it was 12 pounds smaller to enjoy its life.

I’m still going to work toward my goals when I get home. Wanting to lose weight and loving what my body has done for me can exist at the same time.

Health doesn’t require hating yourself into changing.

And maybe that’s the reminder somebody else needs today:

You don’t have to earn the swimsuit.
You don’t have to earn the vacation.
You don’t have to wait for the “after” picture to start living.

Take the picture. Get in the pool. Enjoy the trip.

Your goals will still be there when you get home. ❤️

Can I tell you one of the biggest myths in healthcare?

That you have to be “all in” before you start.

You don’t.

You don’t have to wait until Monday.
You don’t have to clean out your pantry.
You don’t have to lose 20 pounds before making an appointment.
You don’t have to have your life together.

My favorite appointments are the ones where we simply figure out the next step.

Maybe that’s getting labs.
Maybe it’s finding out why you’re so exhausted.
Maybe it’s finally getting your blood pressure under control.
Maybe it’s losing 5 pounds before worrying about 50.

Small, realistic changes are what actually last.

If you’ve been putting off taking care of yourself because you feel like you need to be “ready” first… consider this your reminder that you don’t.

You just have to start.

Church gave me something to think about today.

The sermon was about being flexible.

If I’m honest… that’s something I struggle with.

I like plans. I like routines. I like knowing what’s next.

But life has a way of changing the plan.

Kids get sick.
Work runs late.
The weather changes.
Dinner isn’t what you planned.
A workout gets skipped.

For a long time, I treated those moments like failure.

Now I’m trying to see them differently.

Flexibility doesn’t mean lowering your standards.

It means adjusting without abandoning your goals.

Whether it’s your faith, your family, your career, or your health, the goal isn’t perfection.

The goal is to keep moving in the right direction, even when the path looks different than you expected.

I needed that reminder today.

A question I’ve been thinking about lately…

When did we decide adulthood had to be so serious?

Somewhere between paying bills, work, and taking care of everyone else, I think a lot of us forgot how to play.

One of my favorite memories lately wasn’t anything extravagant. It was laughing with my kids until my stomach hurt.

I don’t think those moments are a distraction from life.

I think they are life.

What’s something that makes you feel like a kid again?

Healthcare provider confession:

Healthy eating doesn’t always look like meal prep containers and a perfectly stocked fridge.

Sometimes it looks like grabbing an Egg White Grill from Chick-fil-A between patients.

Sometimes it’s a protein bar in your purse.

Sometimes it’s choosing the best option available instead of the perfect option.

That’s one of the biggest misconceptions about getting healthier…

You don’t need a perfect plan.

You need a plan that works on your busiest Tuesday, during family vacations, on road trips, and on the days life gets messy.

That’s exactly how I approach healthcare with my patients.

I don’t expect perfection—I help people build habits they can actually live with.
