Solara Vets–Paris is excited to welcome Dr. Miranda Lester to our team of emergency veterinarians!

Born and raised right here in Paris, Texas, Dr. Lester graduated from Paris High School in 2012 before earning her undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University–Commerce and her DVM from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine in 2020.

For the past six years, she has practiced as a mixed animal veterinarian, with special interests in surgery, large animal medicine, and emergency care.

We are thrilled to have Dr. Lester back home serving the community she grew up in.

A dog in Texas has been confirmed with New World screwworm—the first reported companion animal case since the parasite’s return to the US—as federal officials report 4 detections in 6 days.

Prescription flea and tick control sold only by your veterinarian, has been FDA approved to treat the New World screwworm. If your dog or cat is not currently on these preventatives, call your vet today!

Rabies is 100% preventable! Please get your pets vaccinated, even the indoor ones (ever found a bat in your home?) Once they are exposed, there is no treatment for pets, and if you're exposed through your pet, the prophylaxis is painful and expensive. Vaccines are inexpensive and required every 1-3 years in adults, depending on risk.

How many Parvo puppies do you think we saw in the last 24 hours? I’m positive a few vaccines is WAAAAAY more affordable than treatment. Please, I’m begging you…just make an appointment with literally ANY vet 😩 We’re so tired of watching these sweet babies suffer unnecessarily 💔
