Seeing all the graduation posts lately has me feeling a little extra emotional for everyone in this season of life.

Not just for the graduates themselves, but for the parents, families, teachers, friends, and versions of ourselves that existed along the way too.

These milestones hold so much more than celebration sometimes.

They can hold pride and grief.
Excitement and nostalgia.
Joy and the quiet realization that life keeps changing right in front of us.

Lately, as my oldest finishes kindergarten and my youngest somehow feels wiser than his years, I’ve found myself thinking a lot about how many people may be sitting with these same bittersweet feelings right now.

Watching people we love grow is beautiful.
And sometimes a little heartbreaking too.

So this is just a gentle check-in for anyone navigating endings, beginnings, transitions, and all the emotions that can come with them:

How are you really doing these days?

Thinking of all of you in this season.

Connection changes things.

This Mental Health Month, we keep returning to the idea that stigma grows in silence, but healing grows in connection.

So many people are carrying invisible emotional weight while still trying to show up for work, parenting, relationships, and everyday life. If this resonates with you, you are far less alone than you think.

We expanded more on vulnerability, courage, and the power of being truly seen in our newest blog: “Turning Silence Into Connection.”

Thank you for continuing to trust us with your stories and allowing us to hold space for the complicated, beautiful experience of being human.

You are deeply loved.
You are shaping lives in ways bigger than you realize.
And even on the hard days, you are doing better than you think. 💛

We’re hiring!

At Speakeasy Therapy, we’re growing intentionally - not quickly.

We’re a small, relationship-first practice in Park Ridge looking to bring on a therapist (LSW, LPC, LCSW or LCPC) who:
✨ Loves working with teens & adolescents
✨ Is open to seeing clients across the lifespan
✨ Values connection, collaboration, and a humanistic approach

This can be part-time or full-time depending on what fits your life.

A few things about us:
– We prioritize team culture
– We handle marketing, billing, and admin so you can focus on clients
– Most of our demand is in-office, with flexibility for a virtual day
– We ask for some afternoon or evening availability
– Compensation is tiered
- W2, CEU stipends, collaboration, and more
– Full-time includes 401k matching and health stipend

But more than anything - We’re a team that genuinely cares about each other.

Think:
☕ supportive consults
⚾ team outings (yes, including our spring baseball game)
🤍 space to be a human first, therapist second

If this sounds like your kind of place, we’d love to connect.

Apply or reach out to learn more.

We’ve been having more and more conversations lately that sound like this…

“Who else is on your team?”

Because therapy is powerful - but it’s even more powerful when it’s connected.

Whether it’s working alongside medical providers, PTs, or nutrition support - collaboration helps us care for the whole person, not just one piece.

Christina put together a blog on what this actually looks like (and why it’s not always easy).

And because real life happens this is a 2-for-1 post. Our sleep blog never made it to our website, so you’ll find both live now.

If you’re a provider - this is your reminder: we’re better together.

I learned so much from this panel! Alison, Abby, and Christina absolutely brought it last night.

While the focus was on athlete girls, REDs applies to adult women too and it’s something more people should be talking about.

If you’re curious, take a listen to the recording over on Envision Pelvic Health & Wellness Instagram.

AI can be a starting place.

Therapy is where it becomes personal, relational, and lasting.

You don’t have to hide that you looked something up, asked a question, or tried to figure it out on your own first.

You can always sit with us.

What are we most excited about this week?

The new perimenopause is here and we’re diving into the earlier, often overlooked signs like anxiety, mood shifts, and sleep changes.

Next week: Fueling for Performance: Recognizing & Preventing RED-S with Alison, Christina, and Abby - focusing on how proper fueling supports hormone health, energy, and long-term wellness.

Spring has a funny way of making it feel like we should have everything together overnight… but real life doesn’t work like that.

At Speakeasy, we’re big on intentional resets, not rushed ones.

If this season feels a little in-between,
you’re probably right where you’re supposed to be.

What’s one small thing you’re easing back into right now?

If mealtimes feel like a power struggle, you’re not alone.

Many picky eating challenges aren’t about behavior, they’re connected to sensory processing, feeding development, and a child’s nervous system. Our upcoming parent group is designed to help you better understand what’s happening and how to support your child with confidence.

Meet Your Group Leaders

✨ Christina Munro, LCSW – therapist at Speakeasy Therapy who supports children and families navigating picky eating, anxiety, ADHD, and neurodiversity.

✨ Maggie Moeller, OTD, OTR/L – pediatric occupational therapist at M Street Pediatric Therapy specializing in early childhood development, sensory processing, and feeding challenges.

What Will Parents Learn?

Feeding is about so much more than taste. In this group, parents will learn how the eight sensory systems influence how children experience food, including texture, smell, movement, and body awareness.

We’ll explore how oral motor and feeding skills impact a child’s ability to chew, swallow, and try new foods.

Parents will also leave with practical tools they can use right away, including:
• messy play activities that build comfort with textures
• pretend play ideas that reduce pressure around food
• strategies to decrease power struggles at the table
• ways to gently expand foods without forcing or shame

Our goal is to help parents better understand why picky eating happens and how to support their child with curiosity, connection, and confidence.
