Before & After Patio Railing Restoration – Elizabeth, Colorado

One of the most common questions homeowners ask is what to do when a patio railing starts peeling, flaking, or showing signs of weather damage.

For this project in Elizabeth, Colorado, the existing paint had begun to fail and several decorative baluster tops were too damaged to save. At the homeowner’s request, the deteriorated tops were removed and modified for a cleaner appearance.

Recent project completed for a local commercial property.

This was a custom double gate replacement for a dumpster enclosure. The old gate had seen better days, so we rebuilt it with new framing, upgraded hardware, and a few functional improvements to help it hold up better with daily use and Colorado wind.

A few details from the project:

• Rebuilt double gate from scratch
• Secured new hinges into 1/4" steel posts
• Added support wheels for smoother movement
• Installed a cane bolt/rod that drops properly into a metal plate
• Added extra bracing boards to help with strength and wind resistance
• Adjusted the gate so it opens, closes, and latches better

I enjoy projects like this because they are not just about making something look better — they are about making the property function better.

A lot of “over-the-fireplace” mounts fail because the wall doesn’t have the right structure where the bracket needs to land.
On this one, I built a decorative wood backing that ties into solid support, then mounted the TV so it’s secure, level, and centered.

Did you know? Pine needles and dry leaves burn fast and they love to collect in the same spots every year, along fences, under decks, in window wells, and inside gutters. With a dry winter, it’s smart to do a quick “fuel clean-up” before summer heat kicks in.
