Today is World Su***de Prevention Day. đź’›

One of the most powerful things any of us can do is simply talk about it — openly, without flinching.

If someone you love is struggling:
→ Listen without rushing to fix it
→ Take talk of hopelessness seriously, every time
→ Encourage connection — to people and to professional support
→ Keep checking in. One conversation is rarely enough.

Therapy gives people a place to say the things that feel too frightening to say anywhere else, and to build real coping strategies alongside someone trained to help.

If you or someone you know is struggling right now, the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline is available 24/7 by call or text. You are not alone.

Recovery isn't a straight line — and it isn't about perfection. 🌱

September is National Recovery Month, a reminder that progress can look different for everyone, and that's okay.

Some things that help along the way:
→ Identifying the triggers that make coping harder
→ Building a support network you can actually lean on
→ Celebrating progress, even the small, quiet kind
→ Remembering that a setback doesn't erase everything you've built

Therapy can support recovery by helping you understand the patterns underneath it and build healthier coping tools — and we also work with family members walking alongside a loved one's recovery.

Back-to-school season isn't just an adjustment for kids — it's one for the whole family. 🎒

New routines, new pressures, new social dynamics. It can bring excitement and stress in the same breath.

A few things worth watching for:
→ Changes in sleep, appetite, or mood
→ Reluctance to go to school or talk about their day
→ Big feelings that don't match “small” problems

Try asking, “How are you feeling about school?” instead of just “How was school?” — and keep expectations realistic while everyone adjusts.

Therapy can give kids, teens, and families tools for managing the stress of transitions, together.

Self-care isn't a bubble bath and a candle (though no judgment if that's your thing). 🕯️

It's Self-Care Awareness Month, and we want to reframe what that actually means: consistently tending to your physical and emotional needs — not doing it perfectly.

This weekend, maybe that looks like:
→ Protecting a few hours of real rest
→ Moving your body in a way that feels good, not punishing
→ Setting a boundary you've been avoiding
→ Simply asking yourself, “How am I actually feeling?”

Therapy can help you figure out what you actually need — and build habits that support it long after the appointment ends.

You don't have to wait until you're in crisis to ask for help. đź’›

September is Su***de Prevention Awareness Month — a reminder that mental health support doesn't have to wait until someone reaches a breaking point.

A few ways to check in, with yourself or someone you love:
→ Notice changes in mood, sleep, or motivation
→ Take feelings of hopelessness seriously, even the quiet ones
→ Ask directly: “How are you, really?”
→ Reach out for professional support before things feel unmanageable

Therapy offers a space to talk about depression, trauma, and stress before crisis, during it, or long after.

If you or someone you know is struggling, the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline is available 24/7 by call or text.

September is a heavy month in our field — and for many of us, personally.

It's Su***de Prevention Awareness Month. National Recovery Month. Self-Care Awareness Month. All in the same 30 days.

At Sane Space, this isn't just a professional observance. Many of us on this team carry our own experience with su***de loss and substance use — in our families, our friendships, our own lives. That's part of why we do this work, and part of why September means so much to us.

Over the next few weeks we'll be sharing information, gentle reminders, and resources tied to these observances, because talking about hard things out loud is how stigma loses its grip.

If any of this touches something in your own life, you don't have to carry it alone. We're here.

💜 International Overdose Awareness Day — August 31

Today, we remember those whose lives have been lost to overdose, support the people and families carrying that grief, and hold space for hope and recovery.

Substance use and mental health challenges are complex—and judgment rarely helps. Compassion, connection, and access to support can make a meaningful difference. If someone you care about is struggling, remind them that asking for help is a sign of strength and that recovery is possible.

Therapy can provide support for individuals and families navigating substance use, recovery, grief, trauma, and the many emotions that come with loving someone who is struggling.

Remember. Support. Hope.

đź’› August 30 is National Grief Awareness Day

Grief does not follow a timeline. There is no deadline for feeling better, no correct way to mourn, and no point when you are supposed to be “over it.”

Healing does not mean forgetting.

Sometimes healing means learning how to carry the love, memories, and loss with you as life continues to change.

Today, consider honoring someone you’ve lost in a way that feels meaningful to you—share a favorite memory, visit a special place, make their favorite meal, look through photographs, or simply give yourself space to remember.

Whatever emotions come up, allow them to be there without judging yourself for having them. Grief can include sadness, anger, relief, guilt, gratitude, laughter, or even moments of joy. There is room for all of it.

If grief feels difficult to carry alone, therapy can provide a safe and supportive space to process loss at your own pace.

Sane Space is here when you’re ready: https://sanespace.janeapp.com/

Kindness can’t replace therapy, medication, or other forms of treatment—but it can still be part of healing.

A small act of kindness can help someone feel seen, supported, and less alone. And that kindness matters when we turn it toward ourselves, too.

Today, try one intentional act of kindness:
• Check in on someone you’ve been thinking about.
• Offer yourself the same patience you’d give a friend.
• Let go of one unrealistic expectation.
• Give a genuine compliment.
• Rest without making yourself earn it first.

Therapy can help us recognize harsh self-talk, challenge patterns of self-criticism, and build a more compassionate relationship with ourselves.

Kindness is not a substitute for treatment, but it can be part of healing.

If you’re struggling to extend that compassion to yourself, Sane Space is here to help
