Imagine having more than 30 years of nursing experience, owning your own NP practice, and paying more than $50,000 every year to a physician because your state requires a collaborative agreement.

One Missouri nurse practitioner says that's exactly what is happening to her.

And now she's suing the state.

Her case is one of four lawsuits I discuss in my newest video involving Missouri, Texas, Mississippi, and California.

The cases are different, but they raise a question I think our profession needs to talk about:

If an NP is educated, certified, licensed, and qualified to provide care, should another private healthcare professional have to give that NP permission to practice?

And what happens when that “permission” comes with a price tag?

These cases are still pending, so current state requirements absolutely still apply.

But I'm very interested to see where this conversation goes.
