I’m excited to share that Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, Liana Gergely, AMFT, has joined our practice and is now accepting new clients in Pasadena and virtually across California.

Liana is a trauma-informed therapist who works with adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, trauma (including PTSD and complex trauma), OCD, addiction, codependency, and relationship difficulties. She has a particular passion for supporting people struggling with overthinking, perfectionism, people-pleasing, low self-worth, and the lasting effects of growing up in alcoholic, emotionally immature, or dysfunctional family systems.

Her approach is relational, psychodynamic, somatic, and deeply collaborative, integrating parts work, mindfulness and nervous system regulation to help clients move beyond insight and into meaningful, embodied change.

Liana received her undergraduate degree from Barnard College, Columbia University, and her Master’s in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University Los Angeles. She completed intensive psychodynamic training at Maple Counseling Center and is a Clinical Trauma Professional (Levels I & II), trained under Janina Fisher.

She also brings a strong background in 12-step recovery and mind-body practices into her approach. Liana is fluent in French and offers therapy in French for clients who prefer it.

You can learn more about Liana at https://tellyourstorytherapy.com/about-us/liana-gergely/.

Please feel free to keep her in mind for referrals or share with anyone who may be looking for support.

Liana Gergely is a Registered Associate Marriage & Family Therapist who works with adolescents and adults navigating trauma, anxiety, addiction, codependency, attachment wounds, and the effects of growing up in families impacted by dysfunction.

Happy May! I am passing along a flyer for an amazing 8 week group that will be starting in June. My Associate, Ish, is running the group again after many successful prior groups.

HEARD is a trauma-informed men's group that uses rap music and somatic practice to build resilience, connection, and real vulnerability between men. The group is Tuesdays for 8 weeks, beginning June 2, 7:30-9pm in Pasadena at our office. A brief intake to assess for compatibility is how the process starts, so please pass this flyer along to anyone who might benefit, and reach out directly to Ish. 😀

Hello, I’d like to introduce you to Sierra, who is one of the therapists working at our practice. She worked in community mental health for several years and has a background in early childhood education, working as a teacher and caregiver prior to working as a therapist with children and adolescents. She takes a systemic perspective in her practice and works with individuals within the context of their relationships and social and cultural environments. She addresses the mind, body and spirit and her approach is collaborative, incorporating humor, creative practices, parts, work, and somatic techniques.
She earned her masters degree in clinical psychology from Antioch University, and has trained at the Southern California Counseling Center. She specializes in working with trauma, relationships, and intimacy challenges, depression, anxiety, and the LGBTQIA plus community.

Sierra Morris is an AMFT at Tell Your Story Therapy, currently offering sessions for adult individuals, couples, and teens.

I would love to introduce you to our newest associate Ish-

“My clinical focus includes developmental trauma, C-PTSD, and substance use disorders. I have experience working in residential, outpatient, and private practice settings working with adults and couples who are struggling with PTSD, depression, anxiety, intergenerational trauma, grief, anger, men’s health issues, and cultural identity. I have a particular interest in working with teens and adults with video game addiction and have previously ran a popular rap music process group in community mental health.

Individuals with complex trauma can often struggle with dissociation and have commonly experienced chronic attachment wounds. These injuries are pervasive, and clients report feeling an unshakeable despair deep within their bones from a chronic lack of feeling safe. We might feel numb, isolated in relationships, our bodies frozen, memories fade, anger spilling, and intrusive thoughts govern the mind. Substance use often serves as a way to cope, whether that looks like p**n, video games, alcohol, drugs, or ultra processed foods. We are geared towards survival, so we use available tools to help manage decades of pain and loss. You can move through the grief and numbing cycles.Therapy will begin by identifying resources and slowly building an alliance with the aim to support capacity for co-regulation. After working together to create a safe container, individuals and couples will be able to utilize resources whenever they are dysregulated to ground, break through negative patterns, and chase resilience.

I have training in the Trauma Resiliency Model (TRM), EMDR, Internal Family Systems, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, and am working towards my certification to be a Community Resiliency Model (CRM) Teacher. I integrate these modalities within a client-centered framework in my practice and focus on creating a safe atmosphere. Please reach out if you are interested in connecting!”
