- Is a highly regarded, fiscally sound not-for-profit, Multi-level Retirement Community (MLRC)
- Is charter member of Aging Services of California (www.aging.org)
- Is Regional Ministry of the Synod of California and Hawaii
- Is participant in the Quality First Covenant with LeadingAge (www.leadingage.org) and as such, is committed to an ongoing philosophy of quality improvement

- Is governed by a 21 member Board of Trustees which includes two campus residents
- Is run day-to-day by the Executive Director and a staff of 90 employees



Our Campus…

- Is located in beautiful Pasadena on 13-1/2 magnificently landscaped acres, Monte Vista Grove Homes has provided quality long-term care services to older adults since 1924
- Is known for its Myron Hunt architecture
- Is comprised of 83 residential cottages
- Is home to approximately 130 retirees of the PCUSA
- Is unique in that new residents have the opportunity to make individualized improvements to their cottage before moving in
- Is conducive to active senior living with a swimming pool, spa and Wellness Center
- Is open to the community in the Assisted Living level. “The Hearth” has 16 private apartments with 24 hour assistance with activities of daily living.
- Is open to the community in the Skilled Nursing Level. “The Health Center” is a Medicare certified 40 bed skilled nursing facility, providing 24 hour nursing care.

In partnership with LCPC (La Canada Presbyterian Church), Monte Vista Grove was honored to host Dr. Kathy Demarest Tingus, Chief of Geriatric Psychology at UCLA and Director of the UCLA Assessment of Neurodegeneration Track at the Semel Institute of Neuroscience and Human Behavior, for a special presentation on Recent Advances in Alzheimer’s Disease.

It was an insightful and meaningful opportunity to learn more about the latest research, in the causes, prevention, and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease.

A cherished tradition continues! Monte Vista Grove was honored to welcome the Rose Queen and her Court last week as excitement builds for the upcoming Rose Parade. 6 The wolf shall live with the lamb;
the leopard shall lie down with the kid;
the calf and the lion will feed together,
and a little child shall lead them.
7 The cow and the bear shall graze;
their young shall lie down together;
and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.
8 The nursing child shall play over the hole of the asp,
and the weaned child shall put its hand on the adder’s den.
9 They will not hurt or destroy
on all my holy mountain,
for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the Lord
as the waters cover the sea.

The poet-prophet Isaiah imagines a time to come when there is, literally, no violence, no human brutality, no animal ferocity. It’s a time when all creation learns a new way of being led by “a little child” (v6). No wonder we associate this Advent passage with the coming of the infant Jesus.

Advent is a time to think out of the box, to reject the status quo, to yearn for a dramatically different world, and to pursue it. That is what is meant when we hear the Advent admonition, “Repent.”

Our maintenance team relies on a truck to respond quickly to resident needs, support events, and transport essentials across our 13.5-acre campus.
But our faithful 1989 Toyota has reached the end of the road. Without a dependable replacement, our ability to serve residents safely and efficiently is at risk.
