A few shots from our refinement training earlier this month. A very pregnant Sparrow teaching āDifferentiating Seemingly Similar Pelvic Techniques.ā What a mouthful š
At one point she came up with the abbreviation LHPSS (āthinks lipsā) for:
⢠Lumbosacral decompression
⢠Hip joint decompression
⢠Pelvic girdle decompressions
⢠Sacroiliac joint decompressions
⢠Sacroiliac joint deep tissue sculpting
In a low risk pregnancy, many of these techniques can be thoughtfully combined into one session to create incredible relief for the low back, pelvis, and hips.
But this is also why refinement matters.
For someone with p***c symphysis separation, for example, the traction portion of a sacroiliac joint decompression would not be appropriate. Hip joint decompression may not be appropriate for someone with significant broken blood vessels or certain tissue vulnerabilities.
This is why we continually refine our work to safely support both straightforward and more medically complex pregnancies, adapting techniques based on the individual in front of us rather than applying the same approach to everyone.
Because thoughtful bodywork during pregnancy isnāt just about learning techniques. Itās about learning when to use them, when to modify them, and when not to use them at all.
This level of care requires ongoing education, refinement, discernment, and practice. We believe mothers deserve practitioners who continue studying and refining their work.
Whether someone is having a relatively uncomplicated pregnancy or navigating additional pain, vulnerability, or medical considerations, our goal is the same: to help them feel safe, supported, and deeply cared for.
Our clients are trusting us during one of the most vulnerable and important seasons of their lives, and we take that responsibility deeply to heart!š¤š¤š¤
