John P.L. Manke, RN, BSN, Owner/Funeral Director was born and raised in Upper Saddle River, NJ and currently resides in Hawthorne, NJ with his beautiful wife Trisha L. (nee Greimel) and three children. John is a Registered Professional Nurse and has been working for St. Joseph’s Healthcare System, Paterson, NJ for over 17 years. He has served in the funeral profession for over 20 years and his passion for helping people in their time of need is what motivated him to study both professions. John attended American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service, New York, NY. He completed his funeral service apprenticeship and continued to work for Van Emburgh-Sneider Funeral Home, Ramsey, NJ, where he learned the art and science of the profession over the next seven years. As of 2003, John has served as a licensed funeral director for Volk Leber Funeral Homes, in both the Teaneck and Oradell, NJ locations. In 2014, John established Manke Memorial which has allowed him to meet the needs of the Paterson, NJ community by offering affordable cremation and funeral services. With John’s years of experience in caring for families from all walks of life, he has been able to reach out to the community with experience and compassion. Each family comes to him because they know he is a leader in the profession and because he is dedicated to excellence in service and maintains the highest degree of integrity.

James "Jimmy" Ryan Troup

TROUP, JAMES "JIMMY" RYAN, 39, of Nutley, NJ, passed away on August 2nd, 2026.

Jimmy enjoyed playing sports and cooking during his childhood and young adult years. He shared many memories with his mother and sister, traveling to New Jersey Devils games and making trips as far as Canada. Vacations to New Hampshire to visit family and the Jersey Shore were among other times they enjoyed together.

James is survived by his beloved daughter Charlotte Rose Troup, his mother, Karen Troup; his sister Jamie Troup (John Skalecky); and his aunt and uncle Maureen & Arthur Connolly. He is predeceased by his father, James Rex Troup.

Though Jimmy's life was marked by periods of joy and hardship, those who knew him best will carry with them the memories that meant the most. May he now find the peace that eluded him in his earthly life.

Cremation was private.

Laura N. Phillips

PHILLIPS, LAURA N., 69, of Midland Park died peacefully on Monday, July 20, 2026. Laura was predeceased by her father, William; mother, Emily; and brother, William ( Billy). She is survived by her brother Robert and his wife Janette, sister Donna, and many nieces and nephews. Laura also leaves behind dear friends who held a special place in her heart: Joanne, Chris, Charlie, and Kellyanne.

Laura devoted 30 years to the teaching profession, spending 27 of those years in the Paterson School System. She believed every child deserved the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed, and she poured her heart into her classroom. Laura generously tutored many students of all ages, often giving her time without hesitation. Her patience, encouragement, and unwavering commitment left a lasting impression on generations of students, fellow educators, and families. Laura proudly worked for The Arc of Bergen County, where she continued her lifelong mission of serving others. Through her compassion and dedication, she enriched the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities, treating everyone with dignity, respect, and understanding. Laura was an enthusiastic NASCAR fan who rarely missed a race and loved cheering on her favorite drivers. She also had a lifelong love for Disney, finding happiness in its stories, magic, and timeless sense of wonder. One of her favorite places to visit was the Bronx Zoo, where she enjoyed spending time surrounded by the animals. Music brought her great joy throughout her life, and she was a devoted fan of Barry Manilow and Donny Osmond. Laura embraced the simple joys that made life special. She treasured spending time with her sister, creating countless memories filled with laughter, love, and unwavering support. Their bond was one of her life's greatest blessings

Miguel A. Galvan

GALVAN, MIGUEL A., 96, of Wayne, formerly of Clifton, died peacefully on Saturday, June 27, 2026. Beloved husband of 70 years to the late Carmen (2019). Loving father of Luis R. & his wife Linda, W***y & his wife Ana, the late Jose (2025) & his wife Marta, the late Erla (2017) & her husband Dr. Juan Desueza, and the late Miguel (1974). Cherished grandfather of 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Before retiring, Miguel worked as an auto mechanic for Circle Auto in Paterson. He loved watching TV, traveling to Atlantic City, and spending time with his family.

Friends and family will be received on Thursday, July 2, from 3:00-5:00 PM at Manke Memorial @ the Scillieri-Arnold Funeral Home Facility, 351 Fifth Avenue, Paterson. Cremation was private. Inurnment to follow at East Ridge Lawn Cemetery, Clifton, at a future date with his wife and daughter.

Karl L. Rasmussen

RASMUSSEN, KARL L., 72, of Midland Park, formerly of Upper Saddle River, died peacefully on Wednesday, June 10, 2026.

Karl Lawrence Rasmussen, 72, passed away on June 10, 2026. Born in Englewood, New Jersey, and raised in Upper Saddle River, Karl was a lifelong resident of Bergen County. Karl graduated from Northern Highlands Regional High School in 1972, where he was an outstanding offensive lineman for the Mighty Highlanders. The determination, strength, and loyalty he displayed on the football field remained hallmarks of his character throughout his life. A dedicated and hardworking craftsman, Karl followed in his father’s footsteps and continued the Rasmussen family tradition of skilled carpentry. Over the course of his career as a dedicated employee of Gene Tremblay, he helped build numerous homes throughout Northern Bergen County, leaving behind a lasting legacy in the communities he served. Karl's passions were many. He loved Harley-Davidson motorcycles and was a devoted sports fan who cheered faithfully for the New York Mets, a loyalty he proudly inherited from his Italian grandfather. He enjoyed time spent with friends and family and had a special place in his heart for his nieces and nephews, who brought him immense joy. Karl was also a lifelong dog lover. Among the many dogs he cherished over the years, his beloved German Shepherd, Trevor, was his favorite. Karl was a faithful companion to Carol Pahlck and her family, which brought him years of happiness. Karl was a devoted son who was preceded in death by his parents, Larry and Phyllis Rasmussen. He is survived by his sister, Karen Wilson (Greg); his brothers, Paul Rasmussen (Jill) and Kyle Rasmussen (Vicki); his devoted uncle, Frank DeLuise, as well as his nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends who will miss him deeply. Karl will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love of family and friends, and his unwavering loyalty to the people he cared about. His craftsmanship can be seen in the homes he built, but his greatest legacy lives on in the memories he created with those who knew and loved him.

A memorial service is being planned for October 2026. Details will be announced at a later date.

Lance Harold Wilson

WILSON, LANCE HAROLD, 75, of Paramus, formerly of Paterson, died peacefully on Wednesday, June 3, 2026.

Lance was the only child of Harry and Julia Wilson. He was predeceased by his parents. His Aunts and uncles, who also predeceased him, were Michael and Betty Wolfe, Harold and Mary Kopp, and Helen Reveulta. His first cousins are Mike, John, and Tom Wolfe, Al and Lenny Glover, Sarael Hanlon and Louis Clark, Kathy Sbraccia and Willie Kopp. He served in the military twice. Once in the Marines and then the Army. He worked for many years for Paterson Linen Service. The last 5 years of his life were at the Paramus Veterans home. He reunited there with his Aunt and Uncle, Michael & Betty Wolfe. He was visited there regularly by his local cousins! He proudly served his country and will be remembered for that! Lance was a 28-year US Army Veteran and served as a US Marine and US Army Sergeant.

Friends and family will be received on Monday, June 8th, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Manke Memorial @ the Scillieri-Arnold Funeral Home Facility, 351 Fifth Avenue, Paterson. A Funeral Service will be held during visitation at 6:00 PM. Interment, Tuesday, 11:00 AM, at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Rd, Wrightstown, NJ 08562, ALL MEET at the cemetery.

GRECO, NANCY D. (nee DYKTY), 87, of Wellington, FL, formerly of Eagle Bay and Utica, NY, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 15, 2026. Beloved wife of 60 years to the late Michael A. (2018). Loving mother of Sigmund, Michelle, and her husband Robert, Sarah G., and her husband James Murphy, and the late Michael C. (1987). Adored sister of Susan (Bill) Williams. Cherished grandmother of Gabriella, Tommy, Frencesca, Robert, Connor, Jimmy, Christopher, the late Mitchell (2014), and her favorite dog, Lana. Dear friend of Linda, who shared the last two years of her life with her, playing cards, taking walks, and simply enjoying each other’s company. Linda’s friendship, companionship, and support meant so much to both her and our family.

Nancy graduated from the Utica Free Academy. Before retiring, Nancy was employed with New York Telephone, now known as Verizon. She had a great love for the other doors. She enjoyed boating and swimming in the Adirondacks during the summer months. She also had a great love for sewing. During her time in Florida, she enjoyed taking walks and swimming in the pool.

Friends and family will be received on Wednesday, May 27th, from 11:00 AM-12:00 PM at St. Mark's Roman Catholic Church, 440 Keyes Road, Utica, NY 13502. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 PM at the church. Interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery & Mausoleum, 2407 Oneida Street, Utica, NY 13501

DEXTER, BRENDA B. (nee BAER), 87, of Vero Beach, FL, formerly of Mahwah and Franklin Lakes, NJ, died peacefully on Saturday, May 2, 2026, in the VNA Hospice House, Vero Beach, FL

Born in Jackson Memorial Hospital, Miami, FL, she was brought up in NJ. Brenda leaves her three beloved children, Gregory Van D**e, from Sebastian, FL, Barry Van D**e from Vero Beach, FL (wife Mary VanD**e) and Valerie Moore, (husband John Moore) Vero Beach, FL and her loving family of many nieces and nephews, devoted grandchildren, Mandy Cardin (husband Jimmy), Jake Moore, Brian VanD**e, Billy VanD**e, and the late Andrew VanD**e (2017), three great grandchildren, Amanda, Shelby and Creed Cardin, and precious, caring coworkers and parishioners at Western Union, United Parcel Service, and the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer. Brenda was the beloved daughter of the late Cyril Ralph Baer (whose family owned four silk mills in Paterson and Carlisle, PA, and Grace (nee Graham) Baer, and resided in Mahwah and Franklin Lakes, most of her life.

She was brought up in NJ and worked for over 20 years for Western Union, Upper Saddle River, as Word Processing Supervisor, and for over 26 years for United Parcel Service in the Personnel Department. Brenda was a graduate of Pompton Lakes High School (where she was very active, President of the Student Council, and Recipient of the DAR Award and Honor Roll) and graduated from Passaic Community College, Paterson, NJ, specializing in Business Administration. She was a parishioner for over 30 years of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, Wyckoff Avenue, Ramsey, NJ, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, where she served in many different stations. She served as President of the Western Union Retirement Association. She was an avid square dancer and traveled throughout the country participating in many special occasions. Brenda’s hobbies included reading books, working on puzzles, sewing, crocheting, and enjoying life.

Friends and family will be received by Manke Memorial Funeral & Cremation Services at the Scillieri-Arnold Funeral Home facility on Monday, June 8th, from 10:00 AM- 11:00 AM for a Memorial Visitation, 351 Fifth Avenue, Paterson, NJ 07514. An Easteran Star Service will be held at 10:30 AM during the Memorial Visitation. Burial of Brenda's Cremated remains will be private.

Michael J. Piesla

PIESLA, MICHAEL J., 62, of Middle Village, NY, formerly of Milford, NJ, on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.

Michael Piesla, born on October 24, 1963, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. He was the beloved son of the late Stanley Piesla and the late Dolores Crawford. He leaves behind his daughter Alexandria Tibak, her husband Wayne, his grandson Parker, his son Ryan Piesla, his brother Stanley Piesla Jr., his wife Kate, their children Christian and Claire; his sister Kathy Pelc, her husband Peter, their children Jillian and Alexander; his brother Thomas Piesla, his wife Kathy, and their children Megan and Thomas.

Michael was a proud graduate of Rutgers University. He spent his career working as a pharmacologist at Wyeth. He was very passionate about his work and was a dedicated employee for 20 years. He had a great love for traveling and was happiest when he was out west at Yellowstone National Park.

Michael dearly loved the town of Milford, NJ, where he and his ex-wife raised their two children. After some time, he moved back to his other favorite place, New York City. He could often be found in museums and restaurants throughout the city. Brooklyn Botanic Gardens held a special place in his heart. Michael will be deeply missed by all those who loved him.

A memorial to celebrate Michael’s life will be held on April 11, 2026, at 1:00 PM in the afternoon at Descendants Brewing Company at the Old Ship Inn in Milford, New Jersey.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be given In Memory of Michael Piesla to Northwell Health’s Zucker Hillside Hospital ARS Program, which was instrumental to supporting our father's mental health over the past 8-9 years. Your support allows Northwell to provide a full continuum of mental health care. Anchored by Zucker Hillside Hospital - a nationally recognized behavioral health center - Northwell is a pioneer in clinical, teaching, and research programs and embedding mental health services throughout our communities. A donation could also be made in Michael's name to NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

Aurelio Jaque Iran

IRAN, AURELIO (DODONG) JAQUE, 79, of Hilsdale, died peacefully on Thursday, February 26, 2026. Beloved husband of 59 years to Simeona (nee Hipona). Loving father of Luz Iran & her husband Mohammad Eid, Marie Iran & the late Arty Garcia(2020), Arthur & his wife A***n, and Michael & his wife Precious. Devoted brother of Romualdo, Teotico, Anita, Linda, Rosie, Emma, and the late Teodolo. Proud and caring grandfather of Sean Garcia, Blake, Kobe, and Beatrice.

Dodong was an avid basketball fan and loved watching the Lakers. He was a member of St. John the Baptist RC Church, Hillsdale. Before retiring, Dodong managed the property and grounds for the Alvarez Family.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 4th, at 10:30 AM at St. John the Baptist RC Church, 69 Valley St, Hillsdale, NJ 07642. Friends and family will be received on Wednesday, March 4th, from 1:00 PM- 3:00 PM at Manke Memorial @ Scillieri-Arnold Funeral Home, 351 Fifth Avenue, Paterson. Cremation was private.
