🌧 Does the work stop when the weather is bad? Nope!

Did I possibly choose the WRONG footwear for the rain? Maybe…but motivation won that one yesterday. 😂

🐴 Do I have the BEST supervisors? Absolutely!

Would I trade any of it? Not a chance! ❤️

Around The Mending Post, the work doesn't stop just because the skies open up. Sometimes the best days are a little muddy, a little messy, and full of four-legged reminders of why we do what we do.

Sometimes the road gets a little rough, and we have no idea where the next curve will take us.

Some days, life feels like a winding road through unfamiliar territory. We’re carrying stress, navigating change, trying to make the right turns, and just hoping the road ahead gets a little easier. ❤️

We don’t need all the answers right now, we just need a moment to slow down, take a breath, and find our footing again.

Horses don’t care if we have it all figured out. They don’t ask us to explain our stress, pretend we’re okay, or have a five-year plan. They simply meet us where we are. Through their quiet presence, honest feedback, and gentle reminders to stay in the moment, they help us find a little peace in the middle of life’s chaos.

We believe that sometimes the most important part of the journey isn’t knowing where the road leads. It’s learning how to navigate it, one step and one breath at a time.

And if the day has been especially rough? Well, the horses have opinions about that, too. 😂🐴 (Usually involving snacks!)

There’s a funny thing about doing this work…

Sometimes, success looks like someone not needing you anymore. ❤️🐴

One of the most fulfilling parts of equine assisted services is watching someone walk through the gate carrying something heavy, little by little find their footing, build confidence, discover their own strength, and eventually reach a place where they’re ready to move forward without us.

And while we’re always a little sad to see a client graduate, we’re also incredibly proud.

Because that’s the goal.

Not dependence.
Not staying stuck.
But growth, resilience, confidence, and knowing you have the tools to keep going.

The horses seem to understand this concept too… although they would like everyone to know that their professional opinion is that more grooming, treats, and snacks are always necessary. 😂🐴

Working alongside these horses can create opportunities to practice:

Everyone has been groomed, everyone is looking their absolute finest, and naturally…they are now accepting compliments. 😂🐴

Mane? ✔️
Forelock? ✔️
Dust and mud? Temporarily defeated. ✔️
Ready to get back to work? Absolutely.

But underneath all that good hair is the real reason they do what they do. ❤️

At The Mending Post, our horses aren't just pretty faces. Through equine-assisted services, they help create opportunities to practice trust, communication, boundaries, confidence, emotional regulation, patience, and connection, all without ever having to climb in the saddle.

They have a way of noticing what we don't always know how to say.

So yes…they're groomed, they're looking good, they're feeling themselves, and they're ready for another day of helping people find their way back to themselves.

Clean horses. Dirty boots. Big feelings. Real mending. 🐴❤️

Now excuse us while the herd waits for their modeling contracts to arrive. 😂

Yesterday was a reminder that our horses aren't just teachers, they're learners too. ❤️🐴

It's been quite a while since Rimson has been separated from his herd for one-on-one work, and today he made sure everyone knew exactly how he felt about it. There was pacing...there was bucking... and enough neighing to let the entire ranch know he had some very strong opinions. 😂

It would have been easy to take him right back to his herd and call it a day. But just like we encourage people to work through life's challenges with support, it's important that we help our equine partners build those same coping skills.

So we slowed down. We stayed patient. We gave him the time and reassurance he needed to work through his stress instead of avoiding it. Little by little, he relaxed, reconnected, and found his confidence again.

One of the most powerful aspects of equine-assisted services is that our horses are authentic. They experience uncertainty, stress, curiosity, and resilience just like we do. They don't teach because they're perfect, they teach because they've experienced challenges and show us what it looks like to move through them.

Today's lesson wasn't just for Rimson. It was a reminder for all of us that growth often begins outside our comfort zone. Whether you're a horse or a human, having someone beside you while you navigate the hard moments can make all the difference.

And yes...Rimson eventually decided that surviving a few minutes away from his buddies wasn't the tragedy he originally believed it to be. 😆

We're proud of you, big guy. Even our teachers deserve the chance to grow.
