A diagnosis gives something a name. It doesn't always explain why it happened. We begin with a different goal:

Understanding the underlying physiology that may be contributing to your symptoms.

Because when we understand why, we often have more meaningful options to explore.

If you've been looking for answers that go beyond symptom management, we'd be honored to help you explore your next step.

The warning light isn't the problem. It's telling you something needs attention.

Your menstrual cycle works much the same way.

It can reflect changes in hormone signaling, metabolism, nutrition, stress, and overall health. Ignoring those changes doesn't make them disappear. Understanding them can help guide the next step.

Has your cycle ever told you something about your health before anything else did?

Yes, you can have PCOS without being overweight.

Some women with PCOS fall within the conventional “normal” BMI range and still experience irregular cycles, acne, excess hair growth, difficulty becoming pregnant, or insulin resistance. You may hear this described as “lean PCOS,” but it is not a separate diagnosis. And a normal BMI does not automatically mean that metabolism is functioning normally.

Two women can have the same condition while experiencing very different symptoms, laboratory findings, and care needs. You do not have to resemble someone else’s PCOS experience for your own symptoms to matter.

Save this reminder: Your symptoms do not have to fit a stereotype to be real.

Irregular ovulation, acne, excess hair growth, and hair thinning can feel like separate concerns. But for some women with PCOS, they may be connected. Inflammatory signals may interfere with how cells respond to insulin. As insulin sensitivity decreases, the body may produce more insulin. Higher insulin levels can then encourage greater androgen activity, potentially contributing to changes in cycles, skin, and hair.

The hopeful part is not a quick fix. It is realizing that your symptoms may follow a pattern, and that understanding it can create a clearer path forward.

If these symptoms feel familiar and you need help finding the pattern, reach out to our team.

Educational content only. PCOS/PMOS symptoms and contributing factors vary from person to person.
