Davey sure did a great job on this one ☺️. We see a lot of patients here at north shore and everyone of them are important to us. Our clinicians take their time through the test socket phase to make sure we have an optimal fit. With every delivery of the final prosthesis comes follow up appointments to make sure everything is still fitting correctly after taking it home and is still comfortable. A prosthesis is not a “torture” device and should not cause pain while walking/wearing it normally. This comes down not only to a good fit but also the CORRECT alignment and sock management. We have 3 alignment jigs that we use to transfer each patients correct alignment through out the process. Patients often vary in volume depending on how new they are, how active they are and even diet/health. We make sure to explain the necessity of sock management as well as making sure they have the correct supplies to manage their volume. As providers we have to make sure we are also educating the patient to become successful. Even tho we have 2 highly active amputees that work for us they both did not get up and run a marathon over night. It’s all part of the process but we are here for more than providing devices we are here to make you successful!
