Crossroads Christian Counseling would like to spotlight one of our Hattiesburg counselors, Ben Allmon, LPC.

Ben Allmon is an Oak Grove Native. He is married to his wife of 25 years, and they have 2 children: an adult son in college and a teenage daughter. Ben currently volunteers with the youth group at his local church, and has served in the past as a children’s minister, a youth minister, and on the production team of various local churches.

Ben can be described as fun, outgoing, and light hearted with hidden talents like making balloon animals, barbering, and playing many silly characters at vacation bible schools. He was also the lead vocalist for the Christian rock band “Beautiful Feet”.
While earning his Master’s degree in counseling psychology from William Carey University, He worked as a Mental Health Technician at South Mississippi State Hospital. Upon completion of his Master’s, he began working for Ellisville State School as an Associate Psychologist in the group homes of Richton and Waynesboro. For the past 20 years he has been a guidance counselor and high school equivalency test examiner for the Mississippi National Guard Youth Challenge Academy, where he works to aid Mississippi’s at-risk youth to achieve their goal of obtaining an adult high school diploma and the life skills needed to become a more productive member of society. In addition to his work at Youth Challenge, Ben earned his state counseling license in 2013 and has been seeing clients here at Crossroads for the past 6 years.

Ben is passionate about impacting the lives of others, especially helping younger individuals grow into more mentally and spiritually mature adults. He believes that we choose our behavior and those choices render consequences which often cause significant stress and worry. However, if chosen behavior is what got us into this mess, then we can make better choices to get out of the mess. Spiritually, this looks like us feeling like God has abandoned us, only to realize that we chose behaviors that separated us from God. Ben is devoted to helping people choose behaviors that bring them closer to God and His will for their lives.

Ben is available to see clients Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings from 6-9 pm and accepts BCBS, Aetna, UnitedHealthcare Choice Plus Network plans and MS Physicians Care Network policies.

Steven Wade, P-LPC

Helping you navigate life, build confidence and reach your potential. Life can be challenging, and sometimes we need someone to walk alongside us. As a Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselor (P-LPC), Steven’s goal is to provide a supportive, judgement-free environment where you can feel heard, gain perspective, and work toward meaningful change. His approach is collaborative, genuine, and individualized. Steven utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CPT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, mindfulness and meditation, and Structural Family Therapy, while continuing to develop his skills in person-centered, choice-focused, experiential, and other approaches.

Steven believes counseling should provide both support and practical tools that can be used in everyday life. You don’t have to have everything figured out before reaching out. Sometimes taking the first step is the beginning of becoming the person you know you can be.

Outside of counseling, Steven is a husband, a father of four daughters, a teacher, a coach and a pastor. These experiences have shaped his belief in the importance of resilience, accountability, relationships, and personal growth. For clients who desire it, he is comfortable with incorporating faith and Christian principles into counseling. Faith-based counseling is always client-directed and not required. You don’t have to be at your worst to seek counseling. Sometimes you seek counseling because you believe you can become your best.
