Frio Regional Hospital's Rehabilitation Center provides speech therapy based on each patient’s individual needs and goals. Therapy can also be an important part of recovery for people experiencing communication or swallowing difficulties following a stroke, illness, or other health condition.

Sometimes going home immediately after a hospital stay is not the best next step. Frio Regional Hospital's Swing Bed program can provide additional skilled nursing and rehabilitation for qualifying patients recovering from an illness, injury, surgery, or hospitalization. The goal is to help patients regain strength and independence before returning home.

Services may include physical and occupational therapy, IV therapy, wound care, dietitian services, discharge planning, and around-the-clock nursing care. Staying in the hospital can also give patients continued access to services they may need during recovery.

Exciting changes are taking shape at Frio Regional Hospital. Our expansion project is designed to bring even more services and capabilities close to home for families throughout Pearsall and Frio County.

Plans include an expanded Emergency Department with additional beds and trauma rooms, along with a new Radiology Department featuring MRI, CT, mammography, and improved women's services. New space will also provide room for physician offices and specialists.

Construction is expected to continue through September 2027, and we appreciate our community's patience along the way. The end result will mean greater access to high-quality care right here in Frio County.
