In Loving Memory of Bobbie Denton

Bobbie Denton was born on April 28, 1940, in Lordsburg, New Mexico, to Robert Woodrow Earven and Jessie Lee Shores Earven. She grew up in Duncan, Arizona, where she developed a love of learning and a strong determination that would remain with her throughout her life.

Bobbie graduated from Duncan High School in 1958. After high school, she attended Arizona State University, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Education. Bobbie worked as a telephone operator at night to pay for her education.

Bobbie dedicate her life to educating children. She spent ten years as an elementary school teacher in Fort Thomas, Arizona, followed by 23 years teaching in Pecos, Texas. For more than three decades, she touched the lives of countless children.

While attending college, Bobbie met the love of her life, John Henry Denton. They married on May 29, 1965, beginning a beautiful marriage filled with love and laughter for 51 wonderful years together.

Bobbie and John were blessed with three daughters, whom Bobbie loved deeply and devoted herself to raising. She was a loving mother, a cherished wife, a devoted teacher, and a wonderful role model.

Bobbie is preceded in death by her parents Robert & Jessie Earven. Special Cousin Lawrence “Jimmy” Gay, and her husband, John Denton.

Bobbie is survived by her daughters Sheri Miller-Ortiz and husband Joe, Roberta Read and husband Quail, Jonnie Benge and husband Ronnie. Her grandchildren are James Miller and wife Lisa, Joshua Miller, Sheridan Dancer, Riley Read and fiancé Garrett Box, Quinlan Read, Colton Benge, and four great grand children. She is also survived by her good friend and roommate Barbara Milton.

Pallbearers will be Colton Benge, Ronnie Benge, Joshua Miller, Joe Ortiz, Quail Read, and Clay Walker.The family of Bobbie Denton wish to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Viki Forlano, Velma, Becky, Terry, and Holla for the exceptional care they provide for her.

Visitation for Bobbie will be held on Tuesday September 8, 2026 Starting at 1:00 pm until service time. Funeral Service will follow the visitation at 2:00 pm. Bobbie will be laid to rest at Mount Evergreen Cemetery

Kingstynn Ace De La Fuente, of Pecos Texas, passed away on August 31, 2026. In Reeves County.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 9, 2026 at Santa Rosa De Lima Catholic Church at 10:00 am.

Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.

Kingstynn Ace was born at Reeves Regional health to Aaron and Karisma Delafuente on August 31, 2026.

Elisa Mendosa, 88, of Pecos, Texas passed away on August 30, 2026, in Pecos, Texas.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM on Monday, September 7, 2026, at Pecos Funeral Home with Rosary to be held at 7:00 PM. Mass will take place on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at Santa Rosa De Lima Catholic Church in Pecos, Texas with burial to follow at Mount Evergreen Cemetery in Pecos, Texas.

Elisa C. Mendosa was born to Maria Cardenas and Eduardo Carrasco on September 3, 1937. She went to school in Barstow and married the love of her life Santana Mendosa on December 12, 1959, in Pecos, Texas. Elisa lived as a homemaker raising her children and taking care of the home. She was involved in De Colores, Las Guadalupana and Eucharistic Minister. Elisa was a dedicated Catholic and inspired many parishioners to believe and trust in the Lord. She worked for the fiesta of the 16th of September since 1978. She would volunteer countless hours for the church such as cleaning the church and assisting with many church fundraisers. Elisa was loved by man for famous gorditas and a great believer in Jesus.

Elisa is preceded in death by her loving husband Santana Mendosa, Father Edward Carrasco, Mother Amria Cardenas, and brothers Eduardo Carrasco, Charlie Carrasco.

Elisa is survived by her children Margie and Johnny Fuentes, RC Mendoza, Susie Mendoza and Gustabo Salgado, Edward and Abigail Mendoza, brothers Albert Carrasco, Tom Montalvo, sisters Juanita Martinez, Maria Goodwin, Vera Montalvo, along with grandchildren Michelle Arturo, and Erica Sanez, Ryan and Rina, Jalisa Mendoza, Joseph Fuentes, Timothy Valenzuela, Jeremiah Mendoza, Victoria Mendoza, along with 19 Great-Grandchildren, 3 Great-Great Grandchildren and 2 Great-Great-Great Grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Isiah and Ethan Salazar, Jeremiah Mendoza, Timothy Valenzuela, Nathaniel and Joseph Fuentes, Arturo Sanez.

You may have noticed that vehicles traveling in a funeral procession often have their headlights on, even in the middle of the day.

The reason is simple: headlights help other drivers recognize that the vehicles are traveling together as part of a funeral procession. Depending on state and local laws, funeral processions may also receive certain right-of-way considerations.

If you encounter a funeral procession on the road, a little patience can go a long way. Allowing the vehicles to remain together is a small gesture of respect for a family accompanying their loved one to their final place of rest.

Richard Norman “Dickie” Putnam was born November 29, 1941, in Hamilton, Texas, to Donald Dean Putnam and Edith Pauline Atchley Putnam. He grew up in the Gatesville area and cherished memories of his childhood at Fort Hood.

Dickie graduated from high school in Flat, Texas, with the Class of 1961. He participated in basketball, football, track, FFA and 4-H, serving as football captain and FFA vice president. He was also a first-prize winner in 4-H and was voted a class favorite. During his younger years, Dickie also rode bulls for several years, something he remained proud of throughout his life.

In 1964, Dickie moved to Orla, Texas, where he lived for 17 years and began working for Phillips. He later moved to Mentone, Texas, which remained his home. He worked for Phillips for more than 30 years before retiring.

A lifelong rancher, Dickie spent more than 25 years running the Boyd Johnson Ranch in Orla, TX. He had a lifetime of knowledge about cattle, horses and ranching. Whether breaking colts, caring for cattle or figuring out how to fix whatever needed fixing, there was very little he couldn’t find a way to do.

Beginning in 1992, Dickie served as sheriff of Loving County for 12 years.

Dickie raised two sons and lived by the strong work ethic that defined much of his life. He had a tough exterior, but those who knew him best knew the soft heart beneath. He was willing to help when he could and had a special love for animals, especially his dogs.

He was also extremely particular—about just about everything. Those who knew him well understood that there was usually a right way, a wrong way and Dickie’s way.

Dickie loved making people laugh and nearly always had a funny saying, joke or story to share. He enjoyed his dogs, Westerns, Fox News, good company and a glass of Crown and Coke. He could play the spoons, too. And although he loved a good Western, he had absolutely no use for John Wayne, whom he usually referred to simply as “that counterfeit SOB.”

Dickie is survived by his sons, Jesse Vernon Jones and wife Linda, and Donald Paul Putnam and wife Lynell; grandchildren Jessica Williamson and husband Steve, Donna Jo Tompkins and husband Curt, John Paul Jones and wife Morgan, Will Putnam and wife Julia, Tracy Putnam and husband Landon Fryar, and Jesse Putnam; 16 great-grandchildren; his special niece Barbara; and his longtime best friend Joe of Gatesville, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Cathy Putnam; his parents, Donald Dean Putnam and Edith Pauline Atchley Putnam; his sister, Margaret D. Putnam Stevens and her husband, Bryan Stevens; and many other family members and friends dear to him.

Dickie passed away September 2, 2026, in Lubbock, Texas, after a fight with cirrhosis of the liver.

Dickie was a cowboy, rancher, sheriff, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He worked hard, spoke his mind, helped when he could and always seemed to have a joke or saying ready.

It is difficult for our family to comprehend just how much knowledge went with him. We often talked about how he could have filled a book with everything he knew and the stories he had to tell. We only wish now that we had gotten the chance to hear and preserve more of it.

We will miss his humor, his stories and all the little things that made him who he was to us—Daddy and Grandpa. He leaves behind a family who loved him dearly and a lifetime of memories we will always hold close.

In Loving Memory of Daniel Gomez

With heavy hearts and cherished memories, we announce the passing of Daniel Gomez, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who passed away peacefully at home on August 31, 2026.

Daniel was born on April 29, 1945, in Ojinaga, Chihuahua. He lived a life rich in love, laughter, hard work, and unwavering devotion to his family. Daniel was a proud resident of Pecos for more than five decades, where he built a life filled with family, friendships, and countless cherished memories.

Daniel was the cherished son of the late Nestor and Carmen Gomez, who instilled in him the values of hard work, dedication, and family. He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved sister, Delia; his brother, Manuel; and his granddaughter, Angela Rose, whose memory he carried forever in his heart.

Daniel is survived by his devoted wife, Delma, with whom he shared 58 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they built and nurtured a loving family whose lives were forever enriched by his presence.

His legacy continues through his children: Ricardo Gomez; Rosaida Silvas; Minerva Valenzuela and her husband, Samuel; and Mireya Rodriguez and her husband, Richard.

He leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Ricardo Gomez Jr. and his wife, Michelle; Alexandra Ruiz and her husband, Francisco; Jerek Silvas; Justin Silvas; Jenica Silvas; Aiden Valenzuela; Christian Valenzuela; Ryan Rodriguez and his wife, Lauren; Danielle Rodriguez; and Richard Rodriguez Jr.

Daniel was also blessed with four great-grandchildren: Jaylen, Kayleigh, Emily, and Melanie Gomez, who brought him great joy and happiness.

Daniel was a talented carpenter, a profession that allowed him not only to provide for his family but also to create beauty and lasting works with his own hands. His craftsmanship was a reflection of his patience, dedication, and pride in everything he did.

Beyond his work, Daniel found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially music. He loved singing and listening to music, often bringing family and friends together with his melodious voice, laughter, and warm-hearted spirit. Those moments of music and togetherness will remain treasured memories for everyone who knew and loved him.

Visitation for Daniel will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2026 from 9:00 am - 9:00 pm with A Rosary will be held at 7:00 PM at: Peaceful Garden Funeral Home 116 W. Fourth Street Pecos, Texas

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 4, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Santa Rosa De Lima Catholic Church, followed by burial at Mount Evergreen Cemetery.

Margarita “Margie” Machuca, a longtime resident of Pecos, Texas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at the age of 87.

Margie was born on July 27, 1939, in Toyah, Texas, to Francisco and Francisca Martinez. Throughout her life, she was devoted to her family, her faith, and the community she called home.

In 1964, Margarita married Crescencio Machuca, with whom she built a life and raised a loving family. Together, they shared nearly four decades of marriage until Crescencio’s passing in 2002. In 2005, Margie remarried Manuel Ledesma, beginning another chapter of companionship in her life.

A devoted Catholic, Margie was a longtime member of Santa Rosa Catholic Church in Pecos. Her faith was an important part of her life, and for many years she shared her love of music and worship as a member of the church choir. Her voice and faithful presence became a cherished part of the Santa Rosa community she loved so dearly.

Above all, Margie cherished her family. She is survived by her children, Christine Machuca, Israel Machuca, Gabriel and Anilu Machuca, Joseph Paul Machuca, Edward and Idaly Machuca, Joe Chris and Susan Machuca, Esperanza Lopez, Carol Parham, Chris Pineda, Michael Ledesma, Laura Ledesma, Mark Ledesma, and Mario Ledesma.

She was a loving grandmother to her grandchildren: Bianca Machuca and Husband Jorge Reyna Jr., Nicholas Machuca, Zachariah Machuca, Vicente Machuca and Wife Alexis Machuca, Matthew Machuca, Amariah Machuca, Nylee Espinoza and Husband Angel Espinoza, Diesel Machuca, Aida Machuca, Sophia Machuca, Clarissa Mosley and Husband Jay Mosley, and Sabas Peña, Sebastian Hernandez, Christopher Dominguez and Emanuel Romero. She was also blessed with 13 great-grandchildren.

Margie was preceded in death by her husbands, Crescencio Machuca and Manuel Ledesma; her parents, Francisco and Francisca Martinez; her daughters-in-law, Selina Jaquez and Isela Machuca; and her brother and two sisters.

Visitation for Margie will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2026 from 1:00pm - 9:00pm with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm at Pecos Funeral Home in Pecos, Texas.

A Funeral Mass celebrating Margarita’s life and faith will be held on Friday, September 4, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Santa Rosa Catholic Church in Pecos, Texas. Following the Funeral Mass, Margarita will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery in Pecos.

Margarita leaves behind a beautiful legacy of faith, family, and love. Her memory will live on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and the many lives she touched throughout her 87 years.

Though her voice will be deeply missed, the faith and love she shared throughout her life will continue to echo in the hearts of her family for generations to come.

May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
