Important Info ‼️
What is the difference between acupuncture & dry needling? This is one of THE most common questions we get asked. To the untrained eye, the two modalities can look identical BUT the differences certainly outweigh the similarities. At Red Rock Chiropractic, Dr. Smith has been performing acupuncture for over SEVEN YEARS.
✨ Dry needling is a relatively new modality that has been adapted from the acupuncture theory. By placing fine needles into trigger points, it is used to help aid muscle pain and tension. Dry needling is an adjunct therapy that can be done by any health professional after completing a short course. Being a newer modality, research supporting dry needling is limited.
✨ Acupuncture is performed by an acupuncturist. Acupuncturists require 3-5 years of training as well as continuing education for safety and efficacy of needling techniques. Acupuncture is a whole body medicine that has been around for thousands of years.
