They give different kinds of information.

🔹NT ultrasound shows early anatomy and measures the fluid at the back of your baby’s neck.

🔹NIPT uses a blood sample to screen for the chance of certain chromosome conditions.

One does not simply replace the other.

An NT measurement needs context. Your care team looks at how far along you are, your baby’s size,
and other screening information before explaining the result.

Most NT scans fall within the expected range.

🕚 NT scans are usually scheduled from 11 weeks through 13 weeks 6 days.

This first trimester ultrasound measures a small fluid filled space at the back of your baby’s neck. Most
scans are done over your belly, and our expert sonographers may take several images to get a clear
measurement. 🩺

a diagnosis before your NIPT?

NIPT is a screening test. It tells you about chance. It does not give a final diagnosis.

If your results feel confusing, write down your questions and bring them to your next visit.

Your care team can explain what the result means for you and your pregnancy.
