Herniated discs are one of the most common causes of back pain, neck pain, numbness, tingling, and even pain that travels down the arms or legs… but what exactly are they? 🤔
Between each bone in your spine (vertebra) sits a disc that acts like a cushion or shock absorber. Think of it like a jelly-filled donut 🍩 — the outside is stronger and tougher, while the inside is softer. A herniated disc happens when part of that softer inner material pushes outward through the outer layer.
When this happens, the disc itself isn’t always the only problem. The disc can create inflammation, irritation, and pressure around nearby nerves. Depending on where it occurs, you may experience:
⚡ Lower back pain
⚡ Neck pain
⚡ Sciatica pain down the leg
⚡ Numbness or tingling
⚡ Burning sensations
⚡ Weakness in the arms or legs
⚡ Muscle tightness and stiffness
⚡ Pain that gets worse with sitting, bending, coughing, or certain movements
The body is designed to heal, but when there is excess pressure, poor movement patterns, or stress on the spine, it can become difficult for the body to recover properly.
At Revive, our goal isn’t simply to cover symptoms — we focus on addressing the cause and helping your body function better.
✅ Chiropractic adjustments can help improve spinal movement and alignment, reducing stress and dysfunction in the affected areas of the spine.
✅ Spinal decompression gently stretches and unloads the spine to help reduce pressure on discs and nerves while creating an environment that may support healing and hydration of the disc.
Every case is different, and not everyone with a herniated disc experiences the same symptoms, which is why a proper evaluation is important.
You do not have to accept pain as “normal.” If back pain, neck pain, sciatica, numbness, or tingling are affecting your life, we’d love to see if we can help.
