We're excited to share an important milestone in our organization's story: Pender Community Hospital is now Pender Community Health.

Our new name reflects the full range of services we provide across the region—from hospital and clinic care to pharmacy services, child development programs, assisted living, and more. While our name is changing, our commitment remains the same: to be the best place to get care and the best place to give care.

This new identity honors our deep community roots while reflecting who we are today and where we're headed in the future.

Today, we celebrated Deb Suhr as she begins her well-earned retirement! 🎉

For many years, Deb has been a familiar face at Pender Community Hospital, serving our patients, residents, staff, and community with dedication, kindness, and an incredible work ethic. Through countless meals, busy days, and special moments, she has been a valued part of the PCH family and has helped make our organization feel like home.

Randi was nominated for consistently going above and beyond in support of our Cardiopulmonary departments during a time of ongoing transition and change. She continually steps in wherever help is needed and has been an invaluable resource to both staff and patients alike.
Whether assisting with moving and reorganizing equipment to help minimize disruptions in patient care, helping address concerns related to equipment changes, or taking the time to thoroughly explain processes and reassure team members, Randi approaches every situation with patience, professionalism, and a positive attitude. Her calm and solution-focused mindset helps others feel supported and confident, even during challenging moments.
What truly sets Randi apart is her willingness to help without hesitation, her ability to anticipate needs before being asked, and her dedication to seeing tasks through to completion. She consistently demonstrates leadership, teamwork, creativity, and service excellence in everything she does. Her efforts have had a meaningful impact on daily operations, staff morale, and the overall success of our teams.

May is World Skin Cancer Prevention Month — a great reminder to protect your skin and prioritize sun safety all year long. ☀️

Skin cancer is one of the most common types of cancer, but taking a few simple precautions can make a big difference in reducing your risk. Remember to:

• Wear sunscreen daily (SPF 30 or higher)
• Cover up with protective clothing
• Seek shade when possible
• Wear a hat and sunglasses outdoors
• Limit prolonged sun exposure, especially during peak hours
• Stay hydrated while spending time in the heat

It’s also important to keep an eye on your skin and talk with your healthcare provider if you notice any new or changing spots, moles, or skin concerns.
