Interpath Laboratory, Inc. is a family owned & operated, clinical and anatomic pathology laboratory with over 90 locations in Oregon, Washington and Idaho.

is a full-service medical laboratory providing both clinical and anatomic pathology services for the past forty years. Interpath has grown from its rural roots in Northeastern Oregon, to a significant regional medical laboratory serving locations throughout the Northwest. We have maintained a high level of laboratory service by employing good business practices, strong management in all areas of the laboratory, and, most importantly, focusing on the client and patient. Interpath has long-standing excellent relationships with the physician communities it serves. Those relationships create a solid and enduring partnership in the delivery of healthcare. We have embraced a growth philosophy since 1997 and in that time period have experienced growth of 10 to 20% annually. There is tremendous potential for even more growth and thus we continue to look for new markets, opportunities and most importantly, motivated employees to accomplish this task. Ever wonder what actually happens when your provider orders a TB blood test? Here's the simple version.

TB (tuberculosis) is a bacterial infection that doesn't always cause symptoms right away. Someone can carry the bacteria for years without feeling sick, a state called latent TB infection. The CDC estimates that as many as 13 million people in the U.S. currently have it, which is exactly why testing matters.

One of the tests we run to check for TB exposure is called T-SPOT.TB. It works differently than the traditional TB skin test: instead of watching for a skin reaction over a few days, our team isolates immune cells from a blood sample and exposes them to markers specific to TB bacteria. If your immune system has encountered TB before, those cells react, and our scientists count exactly how many under a microscope to get the result. It's also unaffected by the TB vaccine, so it won't give a false positive in someone who was vaccinated as a child.

It's precise, hands-on work: cell counts have to land in a tight window, timing matters down to the minute, and there's no room for shortcuts. But it's also one of the most accurate tools available for catching TB exposure early.

A biopsy can feel like a black box: the sample goes in, and days later, an answer comes back. Here's what happens in between.

Once tissue is removed, it's carefully preserved, sliced into extremely thin layers, stained and mounted on slides. A pathologist then examines those slides under a microscope, looking closely at the size, shape, and behavior of the cells to determine whether they're benign or cancerous, and if needed, exactly what type.

It's detailed, deliberate work, because the report that comes out the other side often shapes a patient's entire treatment plan.

Your cholesterol numbers aren't just a pass or fail. Each test tells a different part of the story about your heart health.

Today is World Alzheimer's Day, and September marks World Alzheimer's Month.

For a long time, getting answers about Alzheimer's meant undergoing a brain imaging scan or spinal fluid test -- neither of which could be done in a typical primary care visit. That created real gaps in care, especially in rural and community settings like ours.

That's beginning to change. Researchers have developed blood tests that measure proteins in the body linked to Alzheimer's-related changes in the brain. Accuracy in clinical studies has been high, and the FDA cleared the first blood-based test in 2025; a meaningful step toward making earlier answers more accessible, no matter where someone receives care.
