πŸ’œ September is Su***de Prevention Month πŸ’œ

Sometimes the most important thing we can do is simply show up, listen, and remind someone that they do not have to go through hard times alone.

At COPES Mobile Services, we believe connection, compassion, and access to support can make a real difference. Whether someone is struggling with mental health, substance use, housing instability, grief, or simply feeling overwhelmed, reaching out can be the first step toward hope.

If you are worried about someone, check in. Ask how they are really doing. Listen without judgment. Help connect them to support.

🚨 If there is an immediate life-threatening emergency, call 911.

You matter. Your story matters. And support is available.

UCOPE and COPES was proud to help support the UWTC Unity Within the Community float for the 2026 Dress-Up Parade! 🌻

We truly appreciate everyone who showed up, helped decorate, represented community partners, participated in the parade, and supported the message behind the float.

Unity Within the Community is about more than one event. It is about people, organizations, families, neighbors, and community leaders coming together to support all walks of life and remind people that everyone deserves connection, dignity, hope, and a place in their community.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this possible and for the incredible community engagement throughout the parade.

Tuesday Outreach Update β€” Follow-Up Care in Action

COPES Mobile Services will not be able to make it to our regular Tuesday outreach today.

Although the trailer won't be out, the work continues. Today I'll be focusing on follow-up care, advocacy, and helping people navigate services so the connections we make during outreach don't end after the first conversation.

That can mean checking on referrals, helping someone connect with treatment or medical care, working through barriers, advocating for better services, and making sure people don't get lost between agencies.

πŸ’š Why does follow-up care and continued support matter?

Peer and recovery support can help people stay engaged with services, strengthen their recovery, build relationships, and connect with the resources they need.

Sometimes handing someone a phone number or referral isn't enough. They may need another phone call, help making an appointment, transportation resources, advocacy when they run into a barrier, a warm handoff, or simply someone who continues to show up.

Outreach makes the connection. Follow-up helps keep that connection going. 🀝

Recovery is also possible. SAMHSA reports that about 7 in 10 adults who have ever had a substance use problem consider themselves to be recovering or in recovery.

πŸ’š Meeting people where they're at is the beginning. Continuing to show up, advocate, and walk alongside them helps turn that first connection into an opportunity for lasting change.
