What you don’t floss out… stays there. 😬🦷
Skipping flossing doesn’t just leave food between your teeth — it allows plaque and harmful bacteria to build up in places your toothbrush can’t reach. Over time, that buildup can lead to bad breath, cavities, gum disease, gum recession, and even tooth loss.

Signs your gums may need more attention:
✔️ Bleeding when brushing or flossing
✔️ Persistent bad breath
✔️ Swollen or tender gums
✔️ Teeth feeling sensitive

The good news? Just a few minutes of flossing each day can make a huge difference for your smile and overall oral health.

Healthy gums = a healthier smile. ✨

Be honest… how often do you floss? 👇

Jaw pain isn’t always just a jaw problem. 🦷
Recent research has found a significant connection between periodontal disease and TMJ symptoms — meaning unhealthy gums may play a bigger role in facial tension, discomfort, and jaw pain than many people realize.

If you’re experiencing:
✔️ Jaw soreness or clicking
✔️ Headaches or facial tension
✔️ Bleeding or inflamed gums
✔️ Difficulty chewing

…it may be time to look at the bigger picture of your oral health.

At Dr. Pratt’s office, we focus on comprehensive care because your teeth, gums, and jaw all work together. Healthy gums can support a healthier smile — and a more comfortable life.

“No dairy after a tooth extraction.” 🥛🚫

You’ve probably heard it. Maybe you were even told it.

But here’s the truth: for most patients, avoiding dairy after dental surgery is a myth.

There’s no strong scientific evidence that yogurt, milk, or cheese interfere with healing after a routine extraction. In fact, soft, cool dairy foods like plain yogurt can actually be soothing and easy to eat during recovery.

So where did the myth come from?
Some concerns relate to:
• Very hot foods (which *should* be avoided)
• Sugary dairy products (which aren’t ideal)
• Rare cases involving specific medications or nausea

But dairy itself isn’t the enemy.

✨ After an extraction, focus on:
✔ Soft, cool foods
✔ Staying hydrated
✔ Avoiding straws (to protect the blood clot)
✔ Following your dentist’s specific instructions

Every surgery is different — especially if sedation or certain medications are involved. When in doubt, ask your provider instead of relying on internet rules.

Grinding your teeth might seem harmless… until your smile starts paying the price. 😬🦷

Teeth grinding (bruxism) often happens without you even realizing it—especially at night. But over time, it can lead to serious damage that affects both your teeth and jaw.

Here’s what we commonly see:
✔️ Chipped or cracked teeth
✔️ Worn-down, flattened enamel
✔️ Loose teeth
✔️ Jaw pain or tension

The good news? You don’t have to live with it. Custom nightguards, TMD therapy, and personalized care can protect your smile and relieve discomfort. 💙

If headaches are interfering with your work, sleep, or family time — it’s time to look deeper.
Many chronic tension headaches are linked to jaw clenching and muscle overactivity.

With advanced AAFE certification completed at the ADA headquarters in Chicago, Dr. Pratt provides therapeutic Botox and trigger point therapy to help relieve muscle-driven pain.

You deserve solutions — not just temporary fixes.
When was the last time you had a headache-free week?

Most people brush first… but your teeth may actually benefit more when you FLOSS first 👀
Flossing before brushing helps loosen food, plaque, and harmful anaerobic bacteria hiding between your teeth — the bacteria that thrive where oxygen can’t reach and are linked to bad breath, cavities, and gum disease.

When you floss first, your toothbrush and toothpaste can reach those areas better afterward ✨

Think of it this way:
Floss = clearing the path
Brush = deep cleaning 🪥

Small change. Big difference for your smile and gums.
Be honest… what’s your routine right now: floss first or brush first? 👇
