POV: everyone’s making summer plans, and you’re just trying to recover emotionally.

There’s a very specific kind of burnout that looks like:

Wanting to have a fun summer…
but secretly feeling too emotionally exhausted to participate in it.

Burnout doesn’t always disappear just because the season changes.

Sometimes summer highlights how tired you’ve actually been.

This Pride Month, we want to acknowledge something important:

There is no “right” way to navigate identity, healing, or self-discovery.

For many LGBTQ+ individuals, mental health work can involve:
feeling safe enough to be seen,
unlearning shame,
processing rejection,
or simply finding space to exist authentically.

Therapy should be a place where people feel respected, affirmed, and supported as their full selves.

At Cognition Co., we believe mental healthcare should always make room for humanity, identity, and safety. We are committed to inclusive, identity-aware therapy.

🏳️‍🌈 Happy Pride Month.

We talked a lot about mental health this month.

But sometimes the most important part isn’t awareness, it’s honesty.

“How am I really doing when no one is asking?”

Mental Health Awareness Month is a reminder that your internal world deserves just as much attention as your external one.

And you don’t have to navigate that alone.

Let’s be honest: anxiety is really good at storytelling.

Usually, the story goes something like:

“What if everything goes wrong?”
“They’re probably upset with you.”
“You’re falling behind.”

And when those thoughts repeat enough, they start to feel true.

But anxiety often fills in the blanks with worst-case scenarios.

One of the most powerful things therapy can help with is learning how to question those thoughts instead of automatically believing them.

Have you ever caught your anxiety telling you a story that wasn’t actually true?

Self-worth doesn’t usually disappear all at once.

It gets chipped away in small moments:

Not being chosen.
Being misunderstood.
Feeling like you had to prove yourself.

Until one day, you’re moving through life trying to earn your place in it.

Therapy is often where people start to realize: “I don’t have to earn my right to exist here.”

Your brain learned certain things at some point in your life.

Maybe it learned that conflict = danger, mistakes = rejection, or vulnerability = risk.

The problem?

Your brain doesn’t always update the story.

Therapy helps people gently question those old narratives.

A Mental Health Awareness Month reminder:

You don’t have to wait until things fall apart to get support.

Therapy isn’t only for crisis, it’s for understanding yourself, your patterns, and what you’ve been carrying for too long.

If you’ve been thinking about starting therapy, this month is as good a time as any to take that first step.

One of the biggest fears people bring into therapy is this:

“What if my therapist thinks I’m crazy?”

Truthfully?

Therapists are sitting there thinking things like:
“That sounds really painful.”
“I’m glad they told me that.”
“That pattern makes so much sense given what they’ve been through.”

Therapy isn’t a place for judgment.

It’s a place to finally stop pretending you’re fine.

If you’ve been thinking about starting therapy for anxiety, relationships, burnout, or life transitions, this might be your sign.
