Heritage Hunters is proud to announce the launch of the Bucks County Lineage Society, a new heritage recognition program dedicated to preserving, documenting, and celebrating the families and individuals who helped shape the history of Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
The Bucks County Lineage Society was created to complement statewide and national lineage organizations by focusing specifically on the rich local history, settlement patterns, and community contributions unique to Bucks County. The program offers descendants the opportunity to document their ancestral ties to early Bucks County residents and gain formal recognition for their family’s place in the county’s historical legacy.
“Bucks County has one of the richest and most diverse historical landscapes in Pennsylvania,” said Barbara May, co-founder of Heritage Hunters. “This society was created to help individuals connect more deeply with their roots while preserving the stories, records, and contributions of the people who built the communities we know today.”
The program encourages genealogical research into families connected to Bucks County during significant historical periods, including colonial settlement, the Revolutionary War era, early township development, agricultural communities, industrial growth, and local civic leadership.
Applicants may qualify through direct lineage to an ancestor who lived in, contributed to, or was associated with Bucks County during eligible historical periods. The society welcomes descendants from all backgrounds whose family stories intersect with Bucks County’s history.
In addition to lineage recognition, the Bucks County Lineage Society aims to:
Promote genealogical and historical research related to Bucks County
Encourage preservation of local family records, documents, photographs, and stories
Foster appreciation for the county’s cultural and historical heritage
Support collaboration among researchers, historians, libraries, archives, and historical organizations
Create a lasting repository of documented Bucks County family histories
The society also provides educational resources and guidance for applicants researching their ancestry through local repositories, historical societies, archives, cemeteries, church records, land records, and court documents. Bucks County offers a wide range of valuable genealogical resources, including historical archives maintained by county offices and genealogical organizations.
The Bucks County Lineage Society is currently accepting applications for recognition.
