Meet Dr. Mark McDonough, DMD – one of our talented doctors at McDonough and DeSantis Orthodontics!
Dr. McDonough became an orthodontist, opening his own practice back in 1994. Prior to opening his practice, he completed his formal education, including:
• Bachelor of Science in Biology, Fordham University, New York, NY
• Doctorate of Dental Medicine, University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, Philadelphia, PA
• General Practice Residency, Lenox Hill Hospital, New York, NY
• Post-Graduate Orthodontic Training, Albert Einstein Medical Center, Philadelphia, PA
Dr. McDonough has also been a Clinical Instructor at Albert Einstein Medical Center since 1995, as well as writing articles and sharing his experience with the next generation of orthodontists.
He is a Board-Certified Orthodontist with the American Board of Orthodontics (ABO) and have earned the designation of Diplomate of the ABO. He is also an active member of the:
• Middle Atlantic Society of Orthodontists (MASO) Board of Directors, 2023 – Present
• Greater Philadelphia Society of Orthodontists, President 2016-2017
• Mercer Dental Society, President 2002-2003

An amazing highlight: Both Dr. McDonough and Dr. DeSantis were accepted as “New Jersey Top Dentists” for 2026.
Beyond the practice, Dr. McDonough and his wife, Marybeth have lived in Pennington for 27 years. They have three incredible daughters: Carolyn, Kimberly and Kristen.
Dr. McDonough is a triathlete and has completed 2-4 triathlons a year since 1988. Other interests include surfing at the Jersey Shore during the summer – while in the winter, he enjoys skiing.
