As I work to help a client secure a safe and stable home for herself and her children, I wanted to reach out to my network and ask: Does anyone know of resources or programs that assist with first month’s rent, security deposits, or move-in costs?

One of the biggest barriers we see when helping families transition into housing is coming up with the large lump sum needed to move in. Many of these families are employed, have good rental histories, and are doing everything right, but saving enough for deposits, application fees, and first month’s rent while managingo everyday expenses can be extremely challenging.

To make matters worse, many renters never receive their previous security deposits back, leaving them with even more financial strain when trying to relocate.

If you know of any local, state, faith-based, nonprofit, or community resources that provide rental assistance for move-in expenses, please share them below. Your information could help not only this family, but many others working hard to secure stable housing.
