We continue to stress to drivers to consider all roads and bridges as impassible. Emergency vehicles should be the only vehicles on the road until further notice. The sun is out, and we're seeing melting. But the temperatures will start dropping again, and that melt will turn into ice.
Since the snow started falling, crews have been working around the clock to keep 17 roadways considered vital for first responders passable. In many cases, the roadway is a single lane, so even if the road is deemed "critical," not all lanes may be clear. For that reason, please stay home unless absEscambia County Sheriff's Office our best to Escambia County Sheriff's Office within the city limits of Pensacola. The Escambia County Sheriff's Office has a running list of county roads on their social media, and state road conditions can be found at Florida 511 https://fl511.com/.
Road closures are fluid, so there may not be much notice before barricades are put in place. This will be especially true at night when the re-freezing begins.
