We really do have some fascinating patients at Ullman Eye Consultants!
I recently had the pleasure of seeing George Sigler, a former U.S. Navy carrier pilot and Vietnam veteran who literally put his own survival theories to the test. In 1974, George and fellow Navy pilot Charlie Gore set out from San Francisco in a small inflatable Zodiac raft with no fresh water and only six pounds of food, determined to test survival techniques and equipment George had developed.
They spent 56 days crossing the Pacific, relying in part on solar stills to make drinking water, before reaching the Hawaiian area. George later wrote about the remarkable experience in his book, Experiment in Survival.
It’s always fun to learn about the incredible lives and stories of the people who walk through our doors. Thanks, George, for sharing yours and for the copy of the book!
