🚑💙 When seconds count, preparation saves lives.

More than 50 frontline hospitality workers are now equipped with lifesaving skills thanks to the launch of the Summer Safe Pensacola Series, a first-of-its-kind collaboration between Ascension Sacred Heart Pensacola and Visit Pensacola.

Participants received hands-on training in ❤️ Hands-Only CPR, 🩹 Stop the Bleed, and 🌊 Water Safety—helping make our community safer for the millions of residents and visitors who enjoy the Pensacola Bay Area each summer.

We're grateful to our caregivers, community partners, and everyone who participated in this important effort to build a healthier, safer community. We look forward to continuing the series on August 5 and September 9!

"ECMO saved my life. I would not be here today without ECMO." When every second counts, access to advanced, lifesaving care can make all the difference.

After being airlifted from Mississippi to Ascension Sacred Heart in Pensacola, Florida, Greg was placed on ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation). This specialized life support temporarily takes over the work of the heart and lungs, allowing them time to rest and heal while maintaining oxygen-rich blood flow throughout the body.

Recently, he returned to Ascension Sacred Heart to attend our ECMO Survivors Celebration, reconnecting with the care team that helped save his life and celebrating alongside fellow survivors and their families.❤️

In 2004, Christine Bradshaw was a healthy 17-year-old student at Pine Forest High School when her life took an unexpected turn. After nearly blacking out at school, she went to the doctor expecting a minor illness. Instead, she received a life-altering diagnosis. Bradshaw was found to have a rare and serious kidney condition. Years of struggling physically and emotionally included the strain of dialysis, a failed transplant and a personal tragedy. Christine persevered and has found a new lease on life through the Kidney Transplant Program at Ascension Sacred Heart Pensacola.

Since a successful transplant in 2020, Christine is not just surviving, she's thriving.

⛳ It's National Golf Cart day! Cruise Safe, Roll Smart: Golf Cart Safety is No Joke

Golf carts aren't just for the fairways anymore. Whether you are cruising around a beach community, navigating a local neighborhood, or driving around a job site, these vehicles are incredibly convenient. Regardless of their convenience, it is essential to utilize safe practices when operating these vehicles.

Golden Rules to Golf Cart Safety

- Buckle Up: If your golf cart has seatbelts (and it should!), use them. A sudden sharp turn can eject passengers resulting in serious traumatic injuries.

- Keep All Limbs Inside: Just like you're instructed at amusement parks, your hands, feet, arms, and legs should remain inside the cart at all times.

- No Underage Drivers: A golf cart is a motorized vehicle, not a toy. Individuals who do not have a valid driver's license or are under the age of 16 should not take the wheel.

- Stick to the Seating Capacity: If the cart has four seats, it should only have four riders. Sitting on laps or standing on the back bumper increases the risk of preventable injuries.

- Drive Defensively: Yield to pedestrians, be mindful of the traffic around you, and obey local traffic signs and speed limits.

🩺💙 June is Cytomegalovirus (CMV) Awareness Month.💙

At Ascension Sacred Heart, we’re helping raise awareness about CMV, a common virus that many people have never heard of, yet is one of the leading infectious causes of birth defects and childhood hearing loss.

CMV often causes few or no symptoms, so people may not know they have been infected. The virus can spread through body fluids, and during pregnancy, it can sometimes pass to a developing baby. Some newborns with congenital CMV have no signs of illness at birth, but hearing changes or other health concerns may appear later in childhood.

💚💙 If you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or caring for young children, talk with your OB-GYN or healthcare provider about CMV, ways to help reduce your risk, and whether additional testing or monitoring may be appropriate for you.
