💙 We are excited to introduce W.A.V.E.S. 💙

A new support and connection group created especially for mothers who have experienced the loss of a child.

Beginning October 2026, W.A.V.E.S. will offer mothers two opportunities each month to come together:

🌊 Support — A monthly support group providing a safe and understanding space to share, listen, and navigate grief alongside other mothers who understand.

🌊 Connection — A monthly gathering focused on simply being together and building meaningful connections with other mothers who have also experienced the loss of a child. Each month will feature a different activity and opportunity to connect.

Grief can come in waves, but you don’t have to navigate them alone. 💙

W.A.V.E.S. begins October 2026.

On August 30, National Grief Awareness Day recognizes the time it takes to heal from loss doesn't have a prescribed course and is a reminder closure comes in many forms. When a loved one dies, the void they leave affects everyone differently.

🎉🦋 Celebrating 3 Years of Healing! 🦋🎉

Today, Nonie’s Place turns THREE! 💙💚🧡

Three years of creating a safe place where children can grow, heal, and thrive. Three years of walking alongside children and families as they navigate grief, loss, and some of life’s most difficult moments.

Since opening our doors in August 2023, Nonie’s Place has been dedicated to providing children and teens with a warm, welcoming place to express their feelings, learn healthy coping skills, and know they are not alone in their grief.

We are incredibly grateful to the families who have trusted us, the volunteers and community partners who continue to support us, and everyone who believes in the importance of helping children heal.

💙 Three years. Countless moments of courage. So many children learning that healing is possible.

Here’s to continuing the journey together and helping even more children grow, heal, and thrive! 🦋

📕⭐️What a great week getting ready for a new school year!⭐️

Nonie’s Place had a wonderful time connecting with families and children at several back to school events, including the Brooks charities back to school bash at OJ Simmons elementary, national night out at Washington high school, and the warrior bash at Belleview Middle school, hosted by Children’s Home Society.

We loved being part of these events, meeting, families, sharing resources, and helping children get excited and prepare prepared for another school year! 💙❤️💚

And just like that… Today is the first day of school! 📚✏️

We hope all of our Escambia County children, teachers, and school staff had a wonderful first day! Wishing everyone a safe, successful, an amazing school year! 🍎📚📓

🦋 The final day of Camp Monarch was filled with reflection, connection, and celebrating all that our campers learned throughout the week. 💙💚🧡

Through activities, conversations, and therapeutic support, our campers explored grief, learned about their emotions, and discovered healthy ways to cope with sadness, anger, worry, and other difficult feelings.

A special thank you to the Escambia Children’s Trust for making it possible for Nonie’s Place to provide this important support to children in our community. Because of your partnership, children had a safe place to learn, heal, express their feelings, and build tools they can carry with them beyond camp.

We are so proud of our Camp Monarch campers and the courage they showed throughout this journey. 🦋

Day 4 of Camp Monarch focused on bargaining, one of the stages of grief. Bargaining is the “what if” stage, when we find ourselves wishing we could change the past or wondering if something we did could have changed the outcome. It’s a natural response as we try to make sense of a loss and regain a sense of control over something that couldn’t be changed.

Today, our campers explored these feelings by creating Worry Clouds and Hope Stars, giving them a safe way to express their worries while also recognizing the hope and support that can help them move forward.

In the afternoon, we combined music and art in a special Music & Feelings Painting activity led by DJ Hale, who generously provided the music. A social worker by trade, DJ Hale used music as a powerful tool to help campers connect with and express their emotions. Campers listened to different styles of music and used paint, colors, shapes, and brushstrokes to represent how the music made them feel. Rather than focusing on creating a perfect piece of art, they were encouraged to embrace self-expression and recognize that every feeling is valid.

A special thank you to DJ Hale for sharing both her professional expertise and passion for helping children heal through creativity and music. We are so proud of the courage, resilience, and creativity our campers continue to show each day.

A heartfelt thank you to Escambia Children’s Trust for supporting Camp Monarch and making experiences like these possible for the children and families we serve. 💙
