We also don’t believe our job is done when you leave, this is why we have a robust alumni program so you can always feel like your Hope Ranch family is here to be there for you as you embrace your new sober life.

Our aftercare support provides ongoing help with continued counseling, support groups, and relapse prevention to keep clients on track. 

We believe in the strength of connection, which is why we invite alumni back for monthly BBQs, where they can reconnect, share stories, and celebrate their continued recovery with current clients.

Look around you.

The person in line in front of you. The driver who cut you off. The coworker who seemed short with you for no reason. The stranger whose face you’ll never see again.

Every single one of them is carrying something.

That’s not an excuse for cruelty. Some behavior has to have limits, and kindness doesn’t mean you absorb everything thrown at you without boundaries.

But it is a reason to soften, just a little, before you react.

Because today might be the hardest day of someone’s life. And they’re standing right next to you in it, anonymous, unremarkable, just trying to get through.

You may never know. They may never say.

But you can extend grace anyway.

Fifty years.

That’s how long one of our residents carried something that felt bigger than him. Half a century of a habit that had written itself into the story of who he believed he was. He arrived at Hope Ranch the way most people do...exhausted, skeptical, not entirely sure anything could touch something that had been there that long.

Thirty days later, it was gone.

Not because we were hard on him. Not because we shamed him or broke him down. But because for maybe the first time in a long time, he had somewhere safe to fall apart and people around him who knew exactly how to help him put the pieces back together differently.

The version of yourself you stopped believing existed.

Genuine transformation isn’t a tagline for us. It’s the only thing we’re here to do. And we’ve watched it happen in people who arrived convinced it couldn’t happen for them.

There were moments, more than I can count really, when I sat in the dark and genuinely believed my story was over.

I’d look at myself and think: this is it. This is the whole thing. This is everything you are and everything you’ll ever be.
I believed that lie for a long time...

What nobody tells you is how convincing rock bottom sounds but somewhere in the wreckage, something in me refused to agree.

I don’t know what to call it. Survival instinct. Grace. Stubbornness. Maybe all three.

I stuck around. And slowly, slowly, the ceiling started to rise.

I wish I could go back and tell that version of me what I know now which is that the life waiting on the other side of sobriety looked nothing like anything I could have imagined from where I was standing.

You have no idea what’s possible for you. I mean that. I couldn’t see it either. But the version of your life that’s waiting...it’s real, and it’s worth every hard step it takes to get there.

I know, because I’m living it.
