🌿 Thinking about becoming a Maryland Medical Cannabis Patient?

Here’s the process, step by step:

STEP 1: Register with the Maryland Cannabis Administration (MCA)
Create an account through Maryland OneStop and complete the Adult Patient Registration application.

There is currently no fee to register as a medical cannabis patient with MCA.

STEP 2: Get your MCA Patient ID Number
Once your application is approved, MCA will email you your Patient ID Number. Hang onto it. Your provider will need it to complete your medical certification.

STEP 3: Get certified by an MCA-registered provider
Schedule an appointment with a registered healthcare provider. If they determine that you qualify, they’ll submit your medical cannabis certification.

STEP 4: Visit a licensed Maryland dispensary 🌿
Once your MCA registration and provider certification are active, you’re ready to shop medically.

You’ll need a valid government-issued photo ID along with your medical patient ID card or Patient ID Number.

You can print a paper medical cannabis ID card for free, or order a physical card from MCA for $25.

Seeing headlines about federal cannabis legalization? 🌿🇺🇸

Here’s the important part: cannabis has NOT been federally legalized.

A new bill, the Cannabis Administration and Opportunity Act (S. 5022), was introduced in the U.S. Senate on July 16. If it became law, it would make major changes to federal cannabis policy, including removing cannabis from the Controlled Substances Act. But right now, it’s still just a proposal.

No, legalization didn’t just happen.
No, the bill hasn’t passed Congress.
Yes, it’s worth paying attention to.
