The first ever bi-annual alumni dinner for the 2025-26 graduates of Girls In-Service.
Showing up again for each other —some with their grad gowns hung in their homes ready to be donned this weekend and the others with a year of college, life experience, and independence under their belt.
While we missed two members due to work and one stilll at college, everyone wanted to be here—on this porch sharing stories, laughter, and wisdom.
It was sweet to see our upcoming grads ask all the questions:
How was it making friends?
How did you deal with home sickness?
How were the parties?
What about roommates?
And our college kids answering the way young wise women do:
Yeah I felt that way but this is how I got through.
These are the lessons I learned.
You’ve got to communicate.
The communal bathrooms are where you meet some of your best friends.
Everyone is kind and talking to each other as people want to make friends.
You got this!
Hearing this wisdom sets the group at ease. And the they fall into the groove the way you do with old friends.
As the adult and mentor to these beautiful human beings, my heart couldn’t be happier. I remember these young girls sporting braces and fashion trends who were solely focused on school and friends. While the braces are gone and they are coming more solidly into themselves, they’re moving into a time of independence and experience.
It’s a great time to be alive in your older teen years!
Many of our members are towing the line. Just as the little birdies sitting on the telephone wires this spring whose moms and dads are encouraging them to fly. The birdies will but it’s a big leap of faith to take flight.
And some of our members are already in flight. A year out of college down—these young women are flying and loving it.
While these girls are out living their best lives doing amazing things, I’ll keep the nest. Another place beyond their families where they can come home too.
Here’s to growing Wise Girls 🪹🕊️
