Our GRCC Theater Critics were out and about last evening, and was granted a sneak peak at WVTE's Summer, "The Play That Goes Wrong," and had a wonderful evening of laughter!

The Play That Goes Wrong is by Henry Lewis, Henry Shields, and Jonathan Sayer. Presented through special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc., this award-winning farce delivers an evening of spectacular mishaps, physical comedy, and nonstop laughter.
The story follows the enthusiastic members of the Cornley Drama Society as they attempt to stage The Murder at Haversham Manor, a classic 1920s murder mystery. From the moment the curtain rises, everything begins to unravel. Forgotten lines, collapsing scenery, disappearing props, missed cues, and unexpected accidents transform an elegant whodunit into a perfectly choreographed disaster. As the cast struggles to keep the show on track, audiences are treated to a whirlwind of hilarious surprises that prove sometimes the biggest mistakes make for the best entertainment.
The production features an outstanding cast of West Virginia Theater East veterans: Evan Engle as Chris, Shawn Strabley as Jonathan, Donovan Kimble as Robert, Sarah Clower as Dennis, Kyrah Redman as Sandra, Benjamin Kimble as Max, Seneca Kimble as Annie, Jason Redman as Trevor, and Kandy Turner as Jill.
Behind the scenes, the production marks the directorial debut of Karnsy Kimble, assisted by Aimee Chave. Ravenna Redman serves as producer. Set construction is led by Evan Engle with assistance from Tom Hencke and David Imboden. Seneca Kimble serves as props mistress, while Andrew Western oversees lighting and sound with assistance from Jimi Kimble and Tara Kimble.
Performances will be held in the Harr Theatre at the Landes Art Center on July 10, 11, 17, and 18, 2026, at 7:00 p.m., with matinee performances on July 12 and 19 at 2:00 p.m.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students and will be available at the door. Cash and checks only will be accepted.
