3 Tips for Backpack Safety
Courtesy of APTA
Backpacks are boss when it comes to carrying school supplies and books. They’re also a go-to for commuters and helpful for day trips. However, improper use can lead to postural problems and even pain.

Children — and adults — should follow these simple tips, provided by physical therapists, when wearing a backpack.

Hi Jeff,
Thanks to the PT and all the work we did, our summer hiking trip went well!
We hiked the westernmost 150 trail miles of the North Country Trail (157 ACTUAL miles) in 10 days, so an average of 15 -16 miles a day.

As summer comes to a close, we're celebrating an incredible group of future healthcare professionals!

These dedicated team members spent their summer gaining hands-on experience, learning from our clinicians, and making a difference for our patients every day.

📚 Here's where they're headed next:
Lucas is returning to Central Michigan University for his junior year, where he's majoring in Exercise Science.
Mason recently started his first day as a PT Aide after discovering his passion for physical therapy.
Jared is entering his final year of Physical Therapy school at St. Ambrose University in Iowa.
Alexis and Simone worked as PT Aides this summer and are both pursuing careers in physical therapy. Alexis will return to the University of Michigan, and Simone to Michigan State University, where they'll complete their senior years as Kinesiology majors before applying to PT school.

We're proud to be part of their journey and can't wait to see all they accomplish. Thank you for your hard work, positive attitudes, and dedication this summer. Best of luck this school year—we'll be cheering you on every step of the way! 💙

🎉 Welcome home, Logan! 🎉

We're excited to welcome Logan, DPT, back to Northern Michigan Sports Medicine Centers! A Harbor Springs native, Logan's journey with us came full circle—from working as a Physical Therapist Aide in our clinic to returning as a licensed Physical Therapist. Read her full journey, click below.

by Logan Wathen, DPT Some journeys begin with a setback. Mine began at 16 years old with a torn ACL. As a high school student, I found myself walking through the doors of Northern Michigan Sports Medicine Center as a patient, unsure of what the road ahead would look like. For the next nine months, I...

A great day on the course for an even greater cause!

Our Sports Medicine team had a fantastic time participating in the Kelbel Cup, supporting the Harbor Springs Athletic Department at The Moor at Boyne Highlands Resort.

Not only did we enjoy a beautiful day of golf, but we also brought plenty of energy to the course—earning recognition for Best Team Spirit and even taking home the prize for the Longest Drive!

We love supporting our local schools, student-athletes, and the communities we serve.

Here's to teamwork, community, and making a difference—both on and off the course! 💙💚

On today's episode of PT in Boyne, we introduce you to our local Tyler (Ty)!

Ty is here to due to a ACL injury.
Is that stopping him from enjoying summer and all the outdoor sports and activities?
Absolutely Not!
Ty comes in "Ready to Work Out".
He sees PT as a way to improve not only his ACL but more of an overall growth and strengthening.
He a kind soul and a happy "go getter" that wants to get everything he can from each and every PT Session.
So, what do we do? We put him to work and at times we jump in with him. (Jesse)
His strength and endurance are getting better, bringing him one step (or single leg squat) closer to freedom.
