Fresh, simple, and made straight from nature! Nettles tea has been enjoyed for generations and is an easy way to use fresh stinging nettles. With just a few steps, youโll have a warm, earthy tea thatโs perfect for sipping any time of day!
Ingredients ๐
Fresh nettles (young shoots, under 6 inches tall)
Water
Optional add-ins: ๐ฏ Honey, ๐ lemon, ๐ฟ fresh mint
Instructions ๐ฉโ๐ณ
Harvest young nettles that are under 6 inches tall.
Rinse the nettle leaves thoroughly (using gloves).
Add the nettles to a pot of water.
Bring the water to a boil over high heat.
Once the tea develops a green-yellow color, turn off the heat.(An alternative is to bring the water to a boil with the nettles, turn off the heat immediately, cover the pot, and let cool.)
Remove most of the nettle leaves.
Strain the tea into a jar or mug.
Enjoy warm or let cool before serving.
๐กTip: Always harvest nettles from areas free of pesticides or contaminants, and away from roads, and handle fresh nettles with gloves, since they sting before theyโre cooked or steeps.
