Somebody asked me at the table: how many times does the Bible actually mention herbs?
So we counted. Word by word.
The word "herb" shows up 37 times in the King James Bible β starting in Genesis 1, where herbs are given as food β and that's before you count the named shelf: frankincense and myrrh (17 mentions each), hyssop (12), wormwood (9), cinnamon, mint, cu**in, the mustard seed...
And it closes the same way it opens: "the leaf thereof for medicine" (Ezekiel 47:12), and leaves "for the healing of the nations" in the very last chapter (Revelation 22:2).
Herbs weren't a side note in Scripture. They were food, fragrance, worship, and story β from the first chapter to the last.
Which one should we open up at the table next β hyssop, myrrh, or the mustard seed? π
