Drexel HOPE is a street-side mobile clinic operated by the Partnership Comprehensive Care Practice, bringing treatment, care and testing for substance abuse, HIV and viral hepatitis to Philadelphians at little-to-no cost. The clinic is currently stationed weekly at Germantown and Chelten Avenues (closer to Vernon Park), every Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

December 10 is International Human Rights Day. It is celebrated yearly to recognize the United Nations General Assembly's adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948. The day reminds us of how important human rights are and that we must keep working to protect them.

This year’s theme, “Our Everyday Essentials,” highlights the essential role that human rights play in our daily lives, even in small ways we may not notice. Human rights are basic elements that we need and depend on every day.

This prevention month urges individuals to make responsible decisions, like arranging alternative transportation, designating a sober driver, or utilizing rideshare services, to reduce traffic collisions and fatalities.

National Handwashing Awareness Week takes place from December 1 to 7. Practicing good hand hygiene helps prevent the spread of illnesses. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommends washing your hands often, with extra attention before and after certain activities:

• Before, during and after preparing food
• Before and after eating food
• Before and after caring for someone at home who is sick with vomiting or
diarrhea
• Before and after treating a cut or wound
• After using the toilet
• After changing diapers or cleaning up a child who has used the toilet
• After blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing
• After touching an animal, animal feed or animal waste
• After handling pet food or pet treats
• After touching garbage
