🪶🌕🍓 Honoring Heritage at the Nanticoke Lenni-Lenape Strawberry Moon 45th Annual Pow Wow! 🍓🌕🪶

This past weekend, Saturday and Sunday, June 6th-7th, the Philadelphia VA Healthcare System / Corporal Michael J. Crescenz VA Medical Center had the honor of attending the Nanticoke Lenni-Lenape Strawberry Moon 45th Annual Pow Wow at the Fairgrounds in Millville, NJ. 🎉

It was a beautiful and powerful experience filled with traditional dance, drumming, song, storytelling, and a deep sense of community. We were privileged to witness the rich cultural heritage of the Nanticoke Lenni-Lenape Tribal Nation and to connect with Native American Veterans and their families. 🇺🇸🪶

Native American Veterans have served in the United States Armed Forces with honor and distinction at higher rates per capita than any other ethnic group. We are committed to ensuring they receive the care, benefits, and recognition they have earned and deserve.

A heartfelt thank you to the Nanticoke Lenni-Lenape Tribal Nation for welcoming us and for their continued partnership. Events like these remind us of the importance of cultural awareness, community engagement, and honoring the legacy of all who have served.

🍩🇺🇸 Celebrating National Donut Day with Our Veterans!🍩

On Friday, June 5th, the Philadelphia VA Healthcare System had the pleasure of celebrating National Donut Day with our cherished Veterans at the West Philadelphia VA Clinic (63rd and Market Street)! 🎉

A heartfelt thank you to The Salvation Army Greater Philadelphia for their generous donation of delicious Federal Donuts 🍩, bringing smiles and sweetness to the Veterans we are honored to serve. Your kindness and continued support of our Veteran community do not go unnoticed!

Special appreciation goes to Joyce Kuwae, Chief, Center for Development and Civic Engagement (CDCE), and Rita Chappelle, Public Affairs Officer for the Philadelphia VA Healthcare System, for their incredible collaboration in making this event possible. 🙌

National Donut Day has its roots in honoring the Salvation Army “Donut Lassies” who served donuts to soldiers during World War I so it was especially meaningful to continue that tradition by serving our Veterans today. 🇺🇸💙

Thank you to everyone who made this day a sweet success! Together, we continue to honor, support, and celebrate those who have served. 🍩❤️
