The lie is that there’s only one way to do this — and you just have to survive it. 🩺
Yesterday as I was walking, I saw all of the Happy Nurses Week messages. And honestly?
My heart felt the weight of how hard this field is right now for some of us.
Maybe you don’t feel very celebratory. Maybe you don’t feel appreciated. Maybe you’re just quietly dreaming about what else could be possible.
I’ve been there. Burned out, exhausted, and feeling stuck. But even in those moments, I kept imagining what could be.
So I pivoted. More than once. I chased ideas. I failed. I created. I reinvented myself — and then did it again.
In my latest chapter, I’ve found myself in Clinical Informatics where I get to think about clinical workload, how we use technology, and how we can actually make things better.
And through The Nurse Sabbatical, I get to remind nurses that rest and resilience aren’t luxuries! They are necessities.
Your career doesn’t have to be one straight line to be beautiful.
Nursing is big enough to hold every version of you 👉🏾every stage, every idea, every pivot.
Happy Nurses Week to every nurse out there doing the work. Don’t stay miserable because “everyone does it that way.”
Try. Pivot. Fail. Reinvent. Do it again. 🤍
