Ok, so clearly, we’re still posting today but to leave you with this messaging…
1. Sometimes the work doesn’t come from those Sharing their own experiences with mental health/illnesses. Normalizing comes from our responses and feelings towards each of us in our times of need, extra love, understanding, and empathy. Catch yourself when you’re rolling your eyes, when you’re viewing pain as “drama”…
2. We’re also realizing that the stories and advice you’re seeing today while scrolling through social media is proof that you are not alone in illnesses or difficulties you are facing in your mind and emotions.
3. Acknowledgment and understanding are two major parts of awareness for mental health.
❓Where do you stand on improving it for yourself?
❓Do you value the betterment of your psychological and emotional health as highly as other areas of health (financial, physical, etc)?
❓Needing help is not the question here — everyone benefits from taking steps towards strengthening our “mind muscle” at any time, not just when situations hit severity of hopelessness or “rock bottom” so help is always needed — the question is, what are you working on daily to bring mental health into your daily routine?
4. We understand.
I understand.
Two words to practice in response to yourself and in response to others who maybe can’t come out and talk about these illnesses or conditions they face. Maybe they don’t know yet, and maybe you don’t fully understand, but that’s where change begins with normalizing mental health as an important aspect of health.
5. The stories you hear or the hardships people face are not excuses, but they do deserve empathy, understand, and compassion.
So, why did we (I, me, Daniela) “not” post today on ?? Because I chose the things I need to sustain my mental health today — I spent the day with my family. I detached from communications. I drank a lot of water. I talked to myself a lot to keep myself in the moment. I let go of the pressure of posting and guilt for not posting. I did more than take a “mental health day” — I prioritized my day to be healthy, mentally.
