It’s story time!
Several years ago my client Caroline* came to me with a nagging upper back and shoulder pain that was making it harder for her to focus at work and adding stress to her already busy life.
During her intake she shared all of the changes in her life; changing jobs, celebrating a milestone birthday and moving in with her partner.
I was able to help her understand that this nagging pain was intertwined with not just her current stressful situations, but that her life-long patterns of “grin and bear it” was a contributing factor to her pain.
She was ready to ReCreate her Reality!
Over the course of 3 months, not only did we bring her nagging neck and shoulder pain down from a 6 out of 10 to a 2 out of 10, Caroline was able to recognize that when her pain was loudest, it was her body’s way of telling her to either slow down or to speak up.
Once she worked through the inherited patterns of blame, shame and guilt that had kept her quiet she was able to have meaningful conversations and set healthy boundaries that honored her needs.
She learned how to meditation and listen to her body’s messages in real time, preventing her pain from taking center stage in her life.
Since working together, Caroline has gone on to shift the trajectory of her career multiple times finding better opportunities with higher pay. She has gotten married and her relationships with her family have improved. Caroline feels more confident in speaking her truth and this has translated beyond her personal relationships and into her career so that she no longer takes on roles that she does not want to take on. The cherry on top is that her neck pain is an occasional reminder to pay more attention to herself and is no longer the Oscar winning star in the movie of her life.
Helping people take their healing into their own hands so they can break out of the cage of chronic pain and live pain free lives and create life on their own terms, is more rewarding than words can describe.
Do you or someone you know live with chronic pain that won’t quit?
